My watches arrived in Louisville a little after midnight Eastern early this morning. It looks like they'll sit there secured until Thursday so no watches accidentally get sent to customers early.

Is this confirmed? Will they sit until Thursday? No way we can get them early?

If you can’t see the reference number section at the bottom, sign up for UPS MyChoice. Then look at the tracking and it should show the reference section (I suggest signing up for MyChoice anyways since it will automatically how the other package once the label is created :) )

The reference number, for the watch, should have the web order number (Wxxxxx) minus the last two digits. If it has this it’s likelu your watch, but verify by cross referencing your Apple order :)

Thanks!! Created the account and cross referenced and it is the Watch. Looks like the iPhone is the one not pulling up at the moment. Appreciate the help.

Tracking still shows me in China. Still scheduled for 22nd delivery. Ordered a 42mm Space Grey Alluminum GPS and Cell. Hoping for an update soon!

Not confirmed but an educated guess. It is to my understanding that Apple requires very strict control over the release so no customers get their items before launch day. Therefore it makes more sense for UPS to keep the items secured at their international hub in Louisville so that local hubs don't accidentally ship the items before Friday/give in to pestering customers wanting to get their items early.

My watches will likely sit there until Thursday and leave early Friday morning since that is the timeframe it takes for items from Louisville to reach my local hub. It may be different for others in different locations.

I'm going to say there's absolutely no way we can get these items before Friday.

Correct. Apple Works with UPS to change the delivery date in the system, and UPS/FedEx also will work to ensure that they are delivered on that date. Very, very rarely does UPS or FedEx deliver a package early anyways, but in this case they have contractual obligations to deploy them on the dates Apple set. If you look at the first page when you click on your package from MyChoice, you might see it says “(Updated)” next to the delivery date - that’s because they changed it from what the system originally generated which would have been an earlier date.

You got it. They will keep them at WorldPort in Louisville until the night before launch. If it’s anything like previous launches, we will see a random “in transit” scan when they scan them out of the holding area, then a “departure” scan when they catch the flight to your local sort hub.

Thank you both for the great responses!

Mine now says Wed by 7PM. I know they will hold it at my local customer center which I have requested to pick up until Friday, but it would be great if they call me by accident and tell me to go pick it up on Wed!

My UPS tracking says "At request of the shipper, authorized release is not yet available". And my UPS says it coming from Burlington, a city just outside of Toronto from a company called AI Logistics. So maybe the Toronto area orders are being stored by this logistics company until Thursday.

Nevermind as I was able to look it up with the UPS app. Looks like I’m still in China ready to hit Alaska soon though.

Do you have UPS My Choice? Sign up and get the app if not. You should see your tracking number in there right now.
I do

I do have it and nothing was there, I order it thru att.com to, in the past FedEx usually drops off phones in the past.

were you on flight 83? my UPS tracking still shows that it departed anchorage, no arrival scan in KY. i mean, i know it's there..the pallet probably just hasn't been scanned but curious what everyone else's status from flight 83 is! :)

I pre-ordered GPS + Cellular 42mm Space Gray Aluminum Olive strap with delivery expected 10/13 - 10/20. What is the likelihood that Apple Stores will have watches for sale this Friday? Thinking about getting to the store early to see.

I preordered a stainless steel silver apple watch. I was on apple.com at 12:01 when I completed my order shipping was 3-4 weeks already. So I placed a second order for instore pickup and snagged 9-22 pickup date at 8-8:30 am. I then cancelled the shipping order when I did that I went back again and noticed all apple stores withing hundreds of miles from me had sold out of instore pickup. All of this was within 15 minutes. It was wild. Does anybody know of the steps for instore pickup? My order just says processing I did get charged yesterday.

Yes I believe I was. One of my watches shows it arrived in KY but the other one is still stuck at departed from Anchorage without an arrival scan to KY. The times match up so I know they're both there. As you said, the pallet was probably missed or something, but it will be rectified when it leaves WorldPort.

We must be on the same pallet! I see the plane has landed, but UPS most recent update is still left Anchorage at 1:54pm.

WorldPort is the name of UPS’s international shipping hub in Louisville, KY. It is where all shipments go to get processed before going to local UPS hubs for delivery.
