Why holding out?
Because 15.5 still has bugs affecting my 13 mini. Also, battery life has regressed from 15.4.1. Still on 14.8.1 with my 3 XRs.

With the length of time it is taking Apple to release 15.5.1, I am hoping it is because they are crushing enough of these annoyances. If nothing is blaring when I update my 13 mini, the rest of my devices will finally get caught up to iOS 15.

Also reading about all the new gimmicks iOS 16 will have, next summer seems to be a reasonable time wait to have them working as they should. Maybe I will update to iOS 16 sooner, but I refuse to be part of Apple’s bug team for them to get it right.

Watch 5 here, and it works just fine for day to day living and walking around the city when traveling to places like New York. Unfortunately, as a cyclist, the battery life SUCKS, and I'm not sure it's because of the age of my watch or the inefficiencies of GPS tracking my cycle workouts, but I have NOT been able to get the watch to last through a century (100 mile) ride, it always dies.. In fact most of the time it's dead even on 80 mile rides usually 60 is the sweet spot.

So, I've reverted to just using my Garmin on the bike for tracking my workouts. I'm sure the GPS in Strava is a huge battery drain on the watch and probably the culprit, although likely if I turned on the cycling workout in the watch app it would do the same thing.
How long do your rides take?

My Series 4 is at 80% battery health. Doesn't affect any of my day-to-day: I still can workout in the morning, wear it all day at work, and still do more activities in the evening before it starts to get close to 15-20%. When it starts affecting my daily activities, I'll just pay to get the battery replaced. The feature set of the Series 4 meets all my needs.
You can't get a battery replaced... They will take your Apple Watch and charge you $299 for a refurbished series 4

I was given a 4 by my son and didn't want to turn it in for a refurb...

BTW Just the other day I found a tech store in NYC that replaces the battery and reseals for $40

Apple advertises a battery replacement (they don’t actually replace the battery but exchange yours with a refurbished item) for $79.
