I apologize if this has been solved or asked. I live in Vancouver, Canada. The AQI function on my watch doesn’t display anything . Is there something I need to set up?

Thanks in advance.

Fixed. Had to go to Apple Watch setting-weather-manually pick my city because “current location doesn’t seem to work”

I’m having the same issue, in Ontario Canada. Even after replacing the current location with my local town it still just displays “dash dash” for AQI.

The wind and UV index complications seem to update fine.

Usually when Apple localizes things they are careful to remove indications of features that aren’t available in the region.

It’s possible this is an oversight, and that AQI data isn’t available throughout Canada. They have the dimmed Apple Pay button in Messages, which is also unavailable here. It doesn’t appear on iOS at all, but it appears in both SMS (what?) and iMessage conversations on watchOS.

I think Air Quality Index is an interesting and important piece of info regardless. If you live in southern Ontario you share Toronto’s air.

Doesn't work in Singapore either. In fact, even Temperature and UV only work once in a while (and otherwise show --)

I live in Canada too, seems like it’s not available for our region.

Sorry, you DID get it to work in Vancouver BC? I’m also here and I don’t see anything that would turn it on for me.

Location permissions all good. Added extra Vancouver city in Weather and made it the default city in watch settings. Reset the watch. Still blank, and the Weather app doesn’t even display AQI details anywhere. :(

It worked for me for about 10 minute then went back to null.

Ok dumb question, but I could not find it online - what is the AQI function

That’s a shame. I suppose we’ll get it at some point, like most other Canadian features. Would be really useful considering the fire warnings we get every year about our air. Thanks!

Air Quality Index. The higher the number, the less safe it is to breathe in the air.

Problem seems to be with weather app on Apple Watch. It does not show AQI for current location weather, that’s why watch is unable to display.

Not Solved: I uninstalled and reinstalled weather app on iPhone, added current location to it.Set the location always on for weather app on iPhone. Set current location for weather app in watch appRebooted watch. All worked for a day.

AQI stopped displaying. First few times it worked with manually refreshing by opening the weather app on watch but later on that stopped working. Found that weather app on watch has no AQI value. Rebooted the watch and all became ok. Started working again.

Conclusion: weather app on watch gets corrupted for current location and stops showing AQI value.

After watchOS 5.1.2 the AQI complication still does not display data for me. If you open Weather.app and follow the link to the weather.com source, it does list Air Quality as a metric in multiple formats for my region.
