My question is how does the international sos feature work when the Apple Watch doesn’t allow international roaming.

When you leave your home country your Apple Watch will not roam. But In order for it to call 911 or whatever variant the country your in has. It would have to connect to cellular when your away from your phone. Is Apple gonna allow roaming finally and the carriers allow it
Excellent point. Was going to say the same thing but saw your comment. These are the inconsistencies that drive me nuts. International roaming hasn’t worked with the LTE Apple Watch until now. I’ve checked it many times in Canada with the US-purchased and activated (on T-Mobile) Apple Watch 3.

Am I the only one who still thinks even the 44mm is too small?

I hope the future involves an even thinner bezel on Apple Watch, and possibly 50mm version.

"solves my single biggest complaint about Apple Watch since day one. Its not perfect," he says, "but it's more than good enough. No other feature or improvement to Apple Watch to date has ever made me this happy."

Wow, this was your single biggest complaint since day one? Not no built in cellular, not GPS, not battery life.

This?

Dufus...

In many states in the USA, even cell phones not on a plan/carrier can actually still make 911 calls. There’s some restrictions that I can’t recall right now (like I think the phone still needed a SIM card or something else)

perhaps Apple is able to tap into that similar type of service everywhere?
Useless feature. No one would leave their phone behind if their watch can’t roam in a foreign country. Hence, you’ll always have your phone with you. A much better feature would be international roaming with the Apple Watch.

Definitely happy I picked up an Series 4 last week. The price was perfect and there really aren't enough features for me to sink over 500 bucks into the watch that I would need for a Series 5.

Same here, my 4 arrives today and I'm happily saving $150 over the Series 5 price.

Personally, I am upgrading from my S4 as the always on display is a big deal for me. This is a huge game changer IMO. I hate having to tap my watch or click it to see the time or if I have any new messages or emails. This is especially important during work hours. Bravo Apple.

I've never been put off by the display turning on/off, never in a situation where I need to be covert, or need to check my watch at some weird angle while holding a side plank or busting out a Warrior's Pose :D Looking forward to scoring a killer deal on an S4 (that would be a 44mm in SG, Wifi only, if you're selling ;))

LOL. I’ve never thought about it like that but I use my watch in those positions multiple times a day. Most of the times I need to actually use the watch (not just glance at it) it’s mostly facing away from me.

The Series 5 will last longer, of course, due to its newer processor.

I doubt this as the S5 processor is marketed exactly the same way as the S4 chip: "Up to 2x faster than S3 processor". This means that there is zero speed gain from S4 to S5.

What about burn-in?

I suspect that those threads are coming very very soon...

Now we just need like at least 4 days battery life and its near perfect.

Same. I'd like to see it get up to a few days in terms of battery life. I have an AW3 - as soon as I see a 1-2 battery life I'll make the switch. Love where Apple are going with the watches though, they are doing a great job on these.

I finally took the plunge after being on the fence since the 2014 announcement. Man, it started to feel lonely out there.

I hope series6 has micro led. Im sticking with series4, until new AW can last at least 2 days with everything on and a few workouts during that time.

Yeah this is a very very good upgrade for anyone on Series 0 thru 3.

It’s funny when reviewers say “not worth the upgrade” as if only people with the Series 4 are looking for a new watch.
Completely agree. Reviewers should point out why the watch is now a viable option for people who were hesitant before to get a smart watch or who want to upgrade from series 0 or 1, not whether some desperate douche needs the latest and greatest.
For me, the low battery life is a no deal. Until these things run a week, I’m not interested, which brings me to the point that I’m surprised that none say that you can turn off the the always-on feature.

I think the real target was people like me: tech and/or watch aficionados who have never owned an Apple Watch. The S5 is the first model that I'm considering. Honestly the biggest sticking point is cellular music streaming (Amazon isn't supported, from what I understand.)

I think you’re correct. Apple Music only for now.

The biggest downside of the watch, was actually the watch part, IMHO. As a watch, the Apple Watch is a failure. Display can't be read just with a quick glance and you need to move your arm for that. It gets old very quickly. Especially when you do sports it's a pain in the a..

I rarely use my apple watch as a watch.. I look at my phone for the time usually. the apple watch is useful for things like notifications, quick replies and the like. Oh and its great for contactless payments.. particularly in places like the beach where you don't want to be fishing out your wallet from deep within your beach bag.

honestly I don't know why everyone is clamoring for an AOD..

Maybe I missed it but will the old bands fit on the new watches?

Indeed. That’s the great thing about Apple, they never changed the band port [Not that they needed to], because the executed the simplicity and ease of use with the band port. I just love how it takes seconds to change out a band to personalize the watch at any given point during your day/or your outfit.

I thought cellular streaming was on AW4.

Edit: AW 3 and up support it.

I find it weird that when the AW first came out, everyone was basically saying the display turning off wasn't a big deal even thought Samsung and other watch makers had an always on display. Now, those same folks immediately want ot upgrade. If you're on a series 4, I think you should just wait another year. Pretty sure they'll come out with an AOD that doesn't dim.

I agree that the new "always on" feature is nice and I look forward to getting that and whatever else Apple adds next year to the AW S6. Until then I am keeping my AW S4. While I normally update my phone every year, I find that I am keeping my watches longer and usually upgrading every other year. The S4 was a huge upgrade from the S2.

Similar to when they stopped selling the X when the XS came out, it is a good sign there is no reason to upgrade if you have the S4. They stop selling it so people do not buy the $100 less option that is 99% the same.
