Also, wouldn’t it allow you to find your other devices by using the watch as well? I usually have my watch on, but it’s easy for me to misplace my phone somewhere.

I would love it if this, in addition to iPhone having U1, we will finally able to be notified when Apple Watch is out of range of iPhone.

So it has U1, 5GHZ wifi, it keeps the sapphire and ceramic... blood oxygen, brighter display, faster (plus the benefits I skipped in series 5 which I’m assuming was just speed and always on? I don’t remember anything else different)

did they keep the 3D Touch or was it removed like rumoured 🧐

‘’I have the gold SS series 4. Which I got in gold for the XS max, then I got the midnight green 11 pro Max, this year I’m not sure what colour I’ll get but I’ve realized I don’t need my phone and watch to match, it’s better for accessories I wear to match it. I am going to get the series 6 (skipped 5 as always on was nice but meh needed more)

I just don’t know what colour to get (we don’t have stores to see them in person) I’m thinking of sticking with gold... but they also changed the gold to I think a lighter version which may look worse I’m not sure.
Always on display and compass are just about the only things the S5 offered over the S4. It used the same CPU so a S6 is the same 20% than a S5/S4.

3D Touch has been removed.

- Cellular
- GPS
- 2.4 GHz WiFi
- 5 GHz WiFi
- Bluetooth
- U1 Ultra Wideband

My body/blood cannot wait to be constantly exposed by all this 24/7. So much healthy.

Too bad 5G support is missing.

You are forgetting all the other radio, TV, and all kinds of other signals, including just plain sunlight outside.

Apple Watch Series 6 models are equipped with a U1 chip for Ultra Wideband support, according to tech specs on Apple's website.

Introduced in iPhone 11 models last year, the U1 chip enables improved spatial awareness. The distance between two devices that support Ultra Wideband can be measured precisely by calculating the time that it takes for a radio wave to pass between the two devices, with much more accuracy than Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi.

Apple has so far only used the technology to power a directional AirDrop feature in iOS 13, but it has promised more exciting use cases in the future. One of those will likely be its rumored AirTags items trackers, which analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously said will support Ultra Wideband, allowing users to locate lost items with greater accuracy.

Earlier this year, MacRumors teamed up with repair site iFixit to confirm that the 2020 iPad Pro lacks the U1 chip, so the fact that it is included in the Apple Watch Series 6 provides reassurance that Apple is still committed to Ultra Wideband.

The lower-cost Apple Watch SE is not equipped with a U1 chip, according to Apple's tech specs.

Main “value” of this thing is for retailers to track you through the mall and in their shops. Don’t expect to see it written in the presentation.

Here's a screen shot from Apple's site comparing the Series 6 (left), SE (middle), Series 3 (right) - Looks like the front and back of all Series 6 watches are sapphire
That screenshot does not indicate that the front glass is also Sapphire.

Anyone able to confirm if any series 6 models have sapphire glass fronts? My older sapphire glass watches have stayed pristine over years of wear while the glass watch faces have all scratched noticeably after only a few months of wear.

These new braided solo bands are so nice. Expensive, but really really nice. The Apple Watch is beautiful, but it‘s a casual esthetic and the new braided solo bands really exemplify that. Having said that, the standard silicon bands are amazingly tacky.

I was curious about the display material as well, I found an article apparently confirmed that the Series 6 has the same materials as previous Series at Slash Gear:

"Apple tells us that the Series 6 aluminum version uses Ion-X glass, while the stainless steel and titanium versions use a sapphire crystal. All models have a ceramic and sapphire crystal back."

Since when has the aluminum version not had a sapphire crystal back? I’m petty sure my aluminum Apple Watch 3 has the sapphire crystal back.

I don't know if someone else answered you and I just didn't see it but the Series 3 (at least in Aluminum) does NOT have a sapphire crystal back but a composite one.
