With an original Series 3 I'm ready for an upgrade after 3 years - it'll be interesting to see how usable the blood oxygen level measure pans out to be (just a nice to have as far as I'm concerned).

WatchOS 7 made my Stainless Steel Series 4 a lot faster. With the exception of the new blood oxygen level monitoring (which doesn't look "perfect" per the review), I don't see a real reason to spend net $600 between selling my Series 4 to get the Series 6.

I'd spend less money for the sport model but yeah, my series 4 is just fine with watchOS 7 and battery life is still pretty good so I don't see a valid reason to upgrade as I don't really care about always on display.
I think I'll save money and upgrade next year, or even in 2022 if battery life will still be good 1 year from now.

Me too :) I would like to get a Series 5 just for the always on screen, if I can find it at a discount. Otherwise the Series 4 suits me well and I don't think I will miss anything from this newer one.

I also have an accurate finger pulse oxymeter, so find the oxygen monitoring a bit gimmicky.

I would prefer if you could turn off the always on screen and save up on battery, imho.

Powered by a new S6 chip, Apple says the Series 6 is up to 20 percent faster than the Series 5. Rolling Stone's Brandt Ranj said that in real-world use, the Series 6 feels "incredibly fast," noting that apps load more quickly, Siri feels more responsive, and animations like the closing of Activity rings look a lot smoother.

I've actually found that my Apple Watch Series 5 is noticeably snappier upon upgrade to 7.0. This could be due to the new major OS update clearing out gremlins (cache files, etc...); hopefully, it's more than that. I'm sure the faster processor makes a much larger difference with 7.0.

I really wish Apple would make a smaller health-focused "Watch", similar to the bands offered by literally everyone else (see FitBit Inspire, Amazon Halo, Mi Band, etc. etc.). Just give me something that tells the time, tracks my metrics, lasts a week between charges, and is half the price, thanks.

I didn’t say they should do so permanently.

Although now that you mention it, I probably will wear the watch on the inside of my wrist as it requires less effort to see the screen.

I don't do this now but have thought about doing it. It's less noticeable to others to check the time, notifications, etc. if it's on the inside of your wrist (in many cases). Haven't checked how the sensors do, though, on the Apple Watch. I still find on the Apple Watch that when I check an incoming call or text (or other notification) that it suggests to people I'm impatient and checking the time.

What I always liked about the space grey is how the bezel of the Display and the Watch itself become like one. with this red tone you can see how the watch is basically a screen and not a „watch“ if that makes sense. Don’t like it personally. Even on the blue one it’s more subtle

Even my series 4 feels better. Some animations seems quicker, so even on the same hardware a task may seem faster than before. Anyway, speed is not really important on the Watch, is not like we're spending much time using apps like we do on an iPhone. The first Watch was slower, but series 2 was already faster and they improved a lot with series 3 and 4. Now they talk about 20%, it doesn't make a huge difference.
I'm more interested in battery life to be honest.

I'm upgrading from an S0 SS Milanese loop watch and i can't decide between the Silver Aluminium Case or Space Grey Aluminium Case with Black Leather Loop - Medium

I used to wear my watch on the inside of my wrist all the time when I first started wearing one. I got back into the habit when the Apple Watch came out, and then realized that wearing it on the inside of my right wrist made mouse use tricky, since the watch was always resting on the tabletop.

recoil80, agree with what you said. Even the complications seem more responsive. Sometimes, Dark Sky could be a bit frustrating as it would be slow to update, get stuck, etc. It could be a Dark Sky update, but I've seen it on a couple other complications, too (including Cardiogram). Out of what I've read on the Apple Watch Series 6, the 20% faster charing is of greatest interest. I've worn the watch to bed for many months now, and it doesn't quite finish charing in the morning before I leave for work. I bought a charger for work, but it would be nice not to have to worry about taking it off at work for a time (or having it charge while I read in bed at night). Very likely not enough to have me upgrade, though.

Having never owned any Apple Watch. Kind of wanting one but torn between series 6 and the SE.

Seems like there are quite a number here are happy with the series 4 or 3. But I do like the idea of the altimeter and blood oxygen monitoring (though I haven’t studied the benefits of it yet).

I rambled on about this a couple of weeks ago - pulse oximetry is tough. Even the finger sensors, which are relatively tight against your finger (compared to a watch), are exquisitely sensitive to position and lack of movement.

I believe the return policy is 14 days, so you can buy the SE and see if it works for you, if not you can upgrade.

Try the refurbished area on Apple.

Give us an option to toggle force touch! I get they're trying to make the watch as user accessible as possible, but if my previous generation watch has the hardware, why not allow users to take advantage?

I was looking for the Glucose / BSR also in the newest watch but NO luck, supposedly Dexcom is working with Apple on it but after seeing reviews of the 6 and O2 functionality I'm thinking of just going with a 5 and saving money.

I’ll see how it feels. I haven’t worn a watch for 15+ years and want this for the health features as I’m not getting any younger 😛 I do feel it’s more intuitive and discreet to wear it on the inside of the wrist. I’ll see it if interferes with laptop use.

The new Solo band makes it more aesthetic to wear the watch on the inside of the wrist. No buckle showing on the outside.

I’d like a sports band that changes color with my mood and health. Red means ‘Do Not Disturb Me’. If I have a heart attack in the street maybe it could flash blue and make my incident visible at night time.

I’ll stick to my S4. It’s an AC+ replacement I got last year after my day one device got a fault. It’s still on 99% battery health according to the new battery screen. I’ve been using all the watchOS 7 betas and even the first made the S4 feel faster. Now it’s lightning fast. Always on and the other new things don’t bother me.
