I'm upgrading from an S0 SS Milanese loop watch and i can't decide between the Silver Aluminium Case or Space Grey Aluminium Case with Black Leather Loop - Medium
Check them out in a store if you can. Personally I don't like the silver aluminum (looks kind of cheap to me). I'm happy with my space grey.

On the precise fit. The same is true with the prior versions of the Apple watch which measured heart rhythm. But then again when using a run of the mill Pulse Ox meter at the doctors office it also has to be connect correctly to get a reading. So, it's just the nature of this type of measuring device. Apple Watch has nothing to do with it.

I don't understand the huge price increase moving to SS,for a small amount of material, just being a slight upgrade. Definitely absolutely massive margins for Apple on that "upgrade."

Aluminum => Stainless Steel/Titanium, and Glass screen to Sapphire.. it's going to be more scratch proof at least.. that's the extra cost of materials.. of course, they wil double it.

Unless you have an underlying respiratory illness, or are sick at baseline, I don’t see the benefit to upgrade to the Series 6 if you have a Series 5, and almost if you have a Series 4. The pO2 sensor is not that compelling of a feature to upgrade (this coming from a medical student), and the rest of the watch is very much iterative, especially vs the Series 5. Some of the best features discussed in the Series 6 presentation are available to Series 4 and especially Series 5 owners. The 20% increased performance is modest when you look at the jump from the Series 1 to 2, the 2 to 3, and the 3 to 4. The 5 didn’t get a performance jump, but it didn’t need it either. I’ll stick with my Series 5 for a couple years or until the next redesign happens.

My Apple Watch 2 works fine, yes probably slow a little starting apps and with Siri. Battery is ok last 24 hours unless I run a marathon, which I do no LOL. I might upgrade to 6, but afraid next year they arrive with a complete new redesign :-(

The S5 dropped from 479 to 409 euro here in The Netherlands. But i'm still happy with my S3, and Watch OS 7 made it feel much snappier (yes really). Largely due to shortening the animations, but it works!

I miss force touch a bit, but that feeling will soon pass. Battery is still at 86% after three years, which is remarkably good since my iPhone's battery is also at 86% after 'only' two years.

The S6 doesn't have a 'shut up and take my money' feature that my S3 doesn't have.
I mean, the always-on altimeter is not that useful in a country as flat as The Netherlands.

The Verge's review about the oxygen sensor: "As my colleague Nicole Wetsman notes, this is not a medical device, and the readings this new sensor provides shouldn’t be used as a diagnostic tool by any stretch."

It sounds like those who do need to measure SPO2 can't use this sensor because it's not accurate and those who don't need to measure it... well they don't need it altogether. Who is this sensor for then?

Hmmm, may be almost time to upgrade from my original Series 0. Blood sugar monitoring would make it an instabuy, but I'm liking the new red and blue options.

I wonder if it will be possible to set notification thresholds for blood oxygen level?

I ordered my first AW. I waited six generations before I felt that Apple had really worked out a lot of the missing features. I really needed sleep tracking as I have some upper airway sleep issues. I chose the cellular option as I have carried my iPhone on runs since about 2011 and it will be great to run with just a watch again. Will be very interesting to let the watch gather data on oximetry and VO2 as well. It's an exciting time for health monitoring technology. In a few more years I expect we will be able to directly monitor glucose and maybe someday cholesterol from our Apple Watch.

So a runner would need to push the watch against the natural motion moving it toward the wrist to pull it back up their arm for the O2 sensor to work. Well...that’s junk.

On Apple site does anyone know how to order the Product Red in the picture with the article? When I was playing around product red only came with a nylon band not the long standing silicon band.

Ship dates for SS shows October 2nd. I’ll go to the store tomorrow to see one in person.
I hope we're lucky and there's enough stock at the Apple Store tomorrow as I'm hoping to order for pick up in-store tomorrow. I'm already seeing others (here) mention stock might be scarce. ☹️

WatchOS 7 made my Stainless Steel Series 4 a lot faster. With the exception of the new blood oxygen level monitoring (which doesn't look "perfect" per the review), I don't see a real reason to spend net $600 between selling my Series 4 to get the Series 6.

This has been discussed at length in the Watch forums. Similar to prior years, only the SS and Ti watches get Sapphire screens.
I am hesitating to update because I dont want to lose force touch. How do you like it without?

Oh, I misread something then. That makes it even less of a draw for me. I thought it worked more like the Heart Rate sensor.
It does. I want to know whether it takes measurements during exercise and how they are used.

WatchOS 7 made my Stainless Steel Series 4 a lot faster...

Same! Like, surprisingly and almost amazingly so.

Not same! 🤣 ... admittedly, I'm just one of "those people" who like the new-new, but I've at least restrained myself to be on a 2yr cycle with the Apple watch (had s2, now s4), and in this case I mostly agree that there's no major game changer except for the always-on screen, which is why I've ordered my s6 😁

AOD is a game changer.

I can't justify the new iPhone and new Watch every year though, and I think this iPhone will bring a design update and 5G, meaning the iPhone takes the cake for this year, and the redesigned Apple Watch (fingers crossed) will take priority next year.

18 hours of battery life?
I'm just out of bed here in NZ and I'm still wearing my Series 4 after putting it on at breakfast yesterday.
Battery indicator says "30%".

The S5 is more than sufficient for almost everyone, if you can find one now.
Some stores still have them available for sale.
The oximeter seems like a gimmick. Get a portable, finger oximeter for ~$20 which is more than sufficient.
The newer sports bands and loops look good.

Most people aren't going to permanently wear their watch on the inside of their wrist simply to improve sensor readings.

No, but some of us would like to (and do now with conventional watches) and have been waiting for Apple to find a way to make a Watch that would work on the inside of the wrist.

Already ordered one in Blue. Can’t wait.Upgrading from the series 4.I’ve “downgraded” from a SS case to Aluminium 🤣

Would be interested to know how you feel about the look of Aluminum vs SS. I am a first time AW buyer. I really like the look of the SS case. Honestly can't justify the 280 GBP price bump though.
