That appears to be the case. Sad. One commentator says if you have a model 5 or 6 there is no compelling reason to upgrade and I agree. I have my sights set now on an Applewatch 8. The chip shortages we have read about may be part of the reason for such a poor upgrade.

I really liked FlickType. Shame on Apple for not buying that developer out and instead pushing them out. Nasty and anticompetitive behavior.

Still on S4 here. The watch is simply not compelling enough to refresh more than once every few years with a balance of sustainability and tech features in mind. Looks like it will be at least 4 years but honestly I could see waiting until S9.

It's just business as usual with Apple. Steal tech from another company, claim they invented it, wait to get sued and then settle for pennies on the dollar. It's been their mo since the day Jobs stole the gui from Xerox PARC

Look at apple.com and then some European versions of the website, they removed the swipe keyboard as one of the new features. Just as I suspected. C’mon Apple, it’s not hard to make swipe for other languages

Yep. It’s stealing to update your own product with an obvious feature that was planned months ago. Lol.

No desire either for series 7 that has no performance gain, worse battery, no new features, and merely a larger screen. But same with series 5. Apparently they know they’ll sell enough. The masses don’t know any better.

But this is apple. I wouldn’t be searching for conspiracies. This was planned months ago.

Me either. I'll hang onto it for another year. If blood pressure and/or hydration comes with the 8, maybe I'll upgrade then.

Is there any word on whether developers can implement Apple's keyboard into their own Apple Watch apps? We need this in a Notes app on the watch.
