That's your opinion and you are entitled to it😀.Ultimately those that purchased it and use maps will have to make up their minds if a difference can be seen when in use.
Agreed :), but it's better to be forewarned that its likely negligible say 20 yds at the example scale shown by Apple and not 100's of yds

This Apple Watch Series 8 reminds me of Apple Watch Series 6/7 too much. Apple Watch Ultra has too much to offer for $50 of a price difference.

The only real problem is the size. I love it but I'm afraid the Ultra is just too big for me. Would love to see it in a smaller size next year. I really want that Action Button.

There is no Apple Watch 8. There is only the Ultra. The 8 is the bargain, stock-holder option.

The bargain that has gone up £40 at the base level to it’s predecessor? I don’t think the S8 is much different from an S7, but it’s certainly gone up in price which doesn’t sit well with me. It definitely exists even if it probably shouldn’t have. I feel it’s a bit of a kick in the teeth to those of us who buy an Apple Watch as it seems all the effort this year went into the Ultra. Not every Apple Watch user has any interest whatsoever in the Ultra and Apple seem to have underestimated that fact.

We're all about to get used to seeing people wearing watches that used to be "too big" for their wrists. That's part of fashion. What was once "tacky" will just become normal. I actually don't think it's that big for everyday use TBH.

I don’t think the Ultra is going to dominate the smartwatch market just yet as it’s aimed at a very niche segment. Large watches have always been around and fashion only applies to a certain degree. Apple wouldn’t have sold a 38mm, 40mm and 41mm watch for the past 7 years if the larger watches were more fashionable. It’s about personal taste and body size really.

I’m guessing you were comparing the $649 AW whereas I was referring to the £419 aluminium version. The Ultra is significantly more expensive, but that is the least of the issues I have with it to be brutally honest.

Valid points! I agree with you 100%. I think Apple Watch is totally worth it. AW SE/S7/S8 looks the same. I want something different and Apple Watch Ultra is it.

Purely on a materials and capability alone, the Ultra is a better deal. Titanium vs stainless steel, double the battery life, action button, unique features and watch faces, and slightly larger display. All for $50 more than the equivalent spec'd 45mm Series 8 SS..

That’s exactly why I said I’m going with the Ultra over the S8, and I have tiny wrists.

Is anyone getting theirs before the 23rd? I preordered mine and it's sitting in the local UPS office. Is UPS required to NOT deliver before the 23rd? My iPhone was in the same shipment (I followed them on the UPS site on their journey from China to South Korea, to Alaska to Louisville, to my home). The iPhone showed up yesterday. Originally the iPhone was supposed to arrive on the 23rd. I'm wondering if the Ultra is on a contractural delivery hold until the 23rd.

While it's aimed at a niche segment, people buy things outside of their intended uses all the time. The perception is the Ultra is the "best" and newest (in design) Apple watch currently. Not saying it's going to dominate either but it's going to be selling more like a mainstream watch than a niche one.

The problem it’s got is it’s 850 quid. The mainstream are buying Apple Watches at £379-£499 at the moment, not to mention it’s a really chunky watch so limits its audience based on 2 factors. The titanium and stainless watches never sold everywhere near as well as the aluminium watches despite being more expensive and perceived as higher end. Not sure why the Ultra is different in this regard.

A few customers that ordered through AT&T, received theirs today. They uploaded photos to prove it. UPS is more than likely going to hold onto them onto delivery on Friday.

Simple stuff: track (let me input the data)distance shown on a stationary bike to keep track of my distance progress over the years. Useless for sports. But hey, it is made of titanium!.

Also, can someone confirm this, please? Based on the tech specs below. Apple Watch Ultra 8 is a lot bigger than Apple Watch Series 8. However, Both Apple Watches contain the same screen size ratio? Is that correct?

I agree. Sizing should be:

Series 8: 41mm & 45mm
Series Ultra: 45mm & 49mm
If the only difference between the “Ultra“ and regular Apple Watch was just some sort of upgrade like the Pro iPhone vs regular iPhone I would agree with you. Making it smaller would cut battery life and then it would not be so great for its designed the purpose.

I think part of this is caused by Apple by calling this the Ultra instead of Explorer or something implying it has a different purpose and not just a more premium watch. I bet it was intentional decision by their marketing team to make sure people who will never see scuba diving or Mount Everest unless it’s on TV will still buy one. I think it’s a smart move by Apple, because trying to limit their customer base would hurt them.

Including VAT!

Even with our 20% VAT added within that price, it’s still more expensive than in the US with your 7.25% sales tax plus any local government additional tax of up to 5%.

Right now these prices are putting people off. Of course Apple are maintaining their margins in relation to the sky high inflation at present, but it’s undoubtedly costing them ultimately in some European markets. Not that we really have to worry about that as there are bigger worries right now.

Yup, but you get healthcare. We get nada.
