The series X coming out next year with the rumored redesign sounds like a better and smarter upgrade for Series 6/7/8 owners. I‘ll upgrade my S7 next year.

I want to hear from folks how much more responsive Siri has become. I use Siri constantly, and she is always painfully slow on my watch as it decides whether to use WiFi, Bluetooth to my Phone, or LTE. On-device would be so nice, but only if it makes a material difference.

I'm getting the new model nine in Red. I trade in my model eight and get the 9 for less than $250. I don't want to spend a whole year envying the SIP 9. Trade in value is at it's best now. It makes more sense to trade in the aluminum models every year for the pleasure of it. Also I like the red and it's only available on aluminum . Add in a new years warranty and it's a slam dunk for me. It's a different story for the Stainless steel and Titanium models.

Agreed and I'm doing the same. I was going to buy a new band anyway. With the trade in the new watch will only cost $160 plus the cost of the band.

The rumors have said there is a redesign for the last few years. I wouldn't count on it.

The only thing that incentivizes me is the doubled storage. But if the Watch stopped locking me out from 75% of my storage, that would be even better.

The rumor from many analysts was for last year. Just goes to show rumors mean nothing and we shouldn’t live our lives centered around them.
Exactly, every year it’s like oh wait til next year. The watch wont be exciting again til Micro LED is affordable or they put in a glucose or blood pressure sensor

Really don’t know whether to upgrade to Series 9 or not. Currently, I have two watches, a Series 4 SS Space Black & a Series 5 SS. Also have matching link bracelets for both, plus a fairly large collection of sport & loop bands.

Rarely wear the Series 5, as I far prefer the Space Black. Very disappointed that Space Black is now restricted to Hermes.

Have thought about upgrading to Series 9 Hermes (to get Space Black again), but just cannot justify the price premium, so I am considering trading in both current watches and getting the Series 9 in graphite. I’ve previously seen the Series 7/8 graphite models in store and like the colour, but keep thinking that the fact that neither of my link bracelets will match the graphite perfectly will annoy me….but then again, using either of the link bracelets with the graphite would be acceptable (think the Space Black bracelet would be the better ’match’ though)

Rumours of next years Watch being a big upgrade just makes the decision on whether to upgrade so much harder. I will probably want the new design and the addition of a blood pressure sensor would be a feature that would attract me, so logic says I should wait another year…but on the flip side, I want to be able to keep using my existing collection of bands (especially the link bracelets), so am concerned that next years watch is rumoured to use a new mechanism for the watch straps…upgrading now could be my last chance to make the most of my band collection.

What should I do?!?

I have a feeling that we will see features for the S9 and U2 for the visionPro when that gets released early next year, requiring the S9 SiP

I just wonder how far they can really go. The thing is all screen and I can’t see the form factor really changing much other than what they did with the ultra already. If this is the last year of standard bands i def wanna upgrade this year cus I love one of my custom third party bands and don’t want it to become useless.
Agreed.

Now if they do implement a magnetic buckle system, which would create more room for a battery, IMO it would still have to have a locking mechanism or clasp of some sort.

There is no way I would trust even a strong magnet while surfing on a watch band. I've had my hood ripped off duck diving medium to big waves and that hood was tied tight.

I’m upgrading from a Series 4 to an Ultra 2 so I’m preparing for my face to melt off. Just having an always on display is a big deal for me, lol.

I think Apple knows it’s time for a redesign. If that happens next year is the big question, but it will be the tenth version of the Apple Watch so that milestone may deserve something “special” which I assume would be a redesign of some sort, perhaps involving the new magnetic bands and the patent we saw last year.

Still rocking Series 4 with the a12 based processor. WatchOS 10 is nice, not all animations are as smooth anymore, but doesn't feel "laggy." Series 9 is the first enticing upgrade with the first actual processor bump since Series 4 (6 was incremental tbh), but we'll definitely wait till next year or longer if this watch keeps getting updates lol

Apple never seems to know when its time for redesigns… the imac was the same for a decade, the magic mouse, the Mac mini, etc. They rehash tired designs ad nauseam. Why do iPhones still have such an ugly camera cluster? They cant redesign that to be attractive like the completion?. I remember when i first saw that design in thought it was a joke, now ages later and we still have it.

I wonder if there’ll be any 3rd party apps that will only be available on the Ultra2

Honestly more than other Apple products, the AW can be considered a fashion device.

The AW Ultra, as good as it is, isn't as appropriate for certain settings as the regular Apple Watch. If I am wearing a navy suit to a meeting, for example, and I want to wear and AW for some reason, good to have the option of the Series 6 SS, or even something like a Midnight aluminum watch.
I wear my Speedmaster or Milgauss when I wear a suit or have a meeting. My Apple Watch Ultra is my everyday watch. Well besides my standard black swatch. In my line of work a smart watch in a meeting is taboo.

The new Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 will begin arriving to customers and launch in stores on Friday. Ahead of time, select media outlets and YouTube channels have shared the first reviews of the watches.

Key new features for both Apple Watch models include brighter displays, up to a 30% faster S9 chip, a "Double Tap" gesture for interacting with the watches without touching the screen, an increased 64GB of internal storage, and more.

Many reviews agree that the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 are iterative upgrades that likely aren't worth upgrading to from a Series 8 or the original Ultra.

The Verge's Victoria Song on upgrading to the Series 9 or Ultra 2:CNBC's Kif Leswing on Double Tap:CNET's Lexy Savvides said the Apple Watch Ultra 2's brighter display with up to 3,000 nits peak brightness benefits the flashlight feature:MobileSyrup's Patrick O'Rourke on the S9 chip:Videos

For the last 3 years, people have continuously moaned how the chip is the same, this year it's a massive 30% increase in power, double the storage a finger gesture that actually works, a faster Siri, a much brighter display and people are still moaning 🫨.
I think it's a bigger upgrade than is being touted, although a new sensor like body fat index, would have made it a slam dunk.

Do you have to constantly unpair a watch when you switch to the other ones you have or is there a method to pair all 3 watches to one phone?
You can pair multiple watches with an iPhone and just toggle them on in the settings app, depending on which one you're using

The battery life is unchanged. It’s still the same “🤡 great all-day battery life.”
Hmm, but with the brighter screen and Siri on devise, the previous watches wouldn't last 18 hrs....do u get the point?

I'll wait for the redesign Apple Watch X and then straight up buying a second hand Series 8 Stainless Steel. Whenever a brand new design comes out the existing model will depreciate even further, which is truly a steal.
The Series 9 ss would make more sense, it will only be $100 more in that scenario
