Apple logo on the back of the Apple watch is peeling off! As you can see even some letters are peeling off, it's like someone took a knife and scratch it all... You can really feel it with your fingers that it's been scratched... Quick search on google and i can see im not the only person with this problem, im surprised there was no thread here for this particular case.... Anyone is having this weird issue? Looks like it only happens on the sports space grey model...
Let us know and post a picture if possible.

That looks like something very abrasive (either physically or chemically abrasive) was used on the watch. Did you scrub it clean with some sort of textured sponge? Use very harsh soap/cleaner when cleaning it? As with other people who have posted in this thread, I have a Space Grey Sport watch that I've been wearing almost nonstop for ~ 3 months and not a single letter/number on the back of my watch shows that.

Another possibility is that there could have been a bad batch of laser printing causing the letters to not adhere fully and after a few months of salt/oil contact (from your skin and sweat) it could be wearing off. If you haven't been overly rough while cleaning it, I'd suggest taking it to Apple and asking them about it. If you don't have other damage to the watch that would indicate careless usage, they should replace that without issue.

I read an article a few days ago maybe that the text and logo on the back of the sport gray aluminum was printed on not etched in like on the SS. Don't know if this is true or not since I have the SS. When I read the article I was surprised by it. While I don't read every thread on here do catch a number of them and like the OP don't recall seeing anything on it. If I sent the article to my reading list I'll come back and post the link.

Found it. It was an AppleInsider article and didn't see it in the Front Page here : http://appleinsider.com/articles/15...ed-rear-logo-damage-other-text-scratching-off

Not using any cleaning solution, as you can see there is no other physical sign than the letters peeling off... That's really weird

Here is mine! I feel your pain. I submitted a support/warranty ticket with Apple. I'll be sending my watch in. They BETTER replace it. I baby the heck out of this watch. Goes from charger, at night, to wrist, back to charger. Never on ANYTHING else. See my photo. I used a photo editing software to cover serial number... And I don't use anything other than a shirt/microfiber cloth to wipe down the underside.

I have a Luvvitt ultra armor on mine as I was worried that this could occur mostly though I taking karate can be a bit abusive so I wear it for that reason.

So far my watch which is like a month old is showing no signs of this

Your sensei actually allows students to wear watches during karate? I'm asking because there's no way judo/jujitsu instructors would allow watches/jewelry to be worn during practice for safety reasons.

I teach karate, so I wear it when teaching the kids, so I can get notifications :)

During karate classes that I take, I remove it.

My apple watch sport in silver exhibited the same exact problems you were having. I called AppleCare and they sent an express replacement. One interesting thing to note is that I received my apple watch on Day 1, April 24th. My replacement up to this point is not displaying any issues. I hope the you can get your replacement soon!

I wonder if body chemistry has anything to do with it. Over the years there's been reports and complaints about apple's laptops incurring pitting and issues which I think many of us tied to a person's sweat as they used the laptop.

Perhaps this could be something similar where the body chemistry is affecting the anodized finish - I'm just thinking out a loud on this, I have no idea if that's even possible.

You may have a point here...........

Every magic mouse I've owned has really bad pitting where my fingers touch the Aluminium Coating, I also have very 'rusty fingers' in that when I handle untreated steels they get a rusty coating really quickly (was a real bitch when I started in machine manufacturing after leaving school). So far my SGS hasn't had this peeling happen, however I'll keep a close eye on it from now on. At least I know what causes my mouse 'pitting'.

Hello forums,
I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue i'm having with my Apple Watch Sport model. I have a space gray, 38mm, and the type around the sensor (serial number, apple logo, and other information) is rubbing away, almost like chipped paint. Please see attached photo for reference.

Is anyone else having this issue? If so, have you contacted Apple? is there any resolve for this? Just wondering... I contacted Apple, and they are replacing mine, but I really think this is a manufacturing issue. I have never worn my watch while showering, or mistreat it in anyway... Anyway, please share your stories.

Thank you!
