I'd tend to agree; however, it doesn't explain why there are third party smartcovers for the iPad.

I agree. Yet it's a new era at Apple, not solely based on the passing of Steve, but as Apple becomes involved in so many projects. I've noticed other irregularities or deviation from past practices.

Previously I don't think Apple would have pushed out iOS 8 without being well debugged and much more stable than it is. Having had every new iPhone made and every rev of every version of IOS, not one has caused me the frustration and wasted time that iOS 8 on my iP6+ has. That's_not_ a complaint, simply an authentic report.

iOS 2.0 says hi.

If this is true., Space grey sport with leather magnetic band for me. Agh Apple come out with it already. I'll even Apple Pay for it in your store!

Same for me - space grey sport with modern leather band (if it comes in 38mm) or classic if not. Tempted to go for the SS version but I think for generation 1, I'll stick to the basics. Hopefully, if I do buy additional bands and then upgrade to gen 2 or 3, the bands will be universal so I do not have to buy new one...

You really think Apple is going to sell a stainless steel link bracelet that takes 9 hours to machine for just 99 bucks? Have you checked the prices of quality SS link bracelets from the better watch companies?

I expect the SS link bracelets to cost more than an entire Apple Watch Sport.

Yes. That is marketing mumbo-jumbo. Apple is a mass market company and charging >$350 for a stainless steel watch bracelet takes them right out of that market. It doesn't make sense.

Apple isn't a "better watch" company. They are a technology company with a heavy focus on gadgets as of late. That's important to note.

Might not be $350 but for sure will be more than $99.

Are you aware that the hinge on the modern/classic leather buckles is in standard stainless steel (see photo below) and will clash with the Space Gray case? The only leather band that will look halfway decent with the Space Gray sport is the leather loop, as it has no metal connectors (although it still has standard SS accents and is only available in 42mm).

Yes I realized that after posting. Thanks. But - I am thinking of just getting the sport model as it is first generation and I am not sure how much I want to spend. If I go with the silver aluminum sports version, what bands will go with that? Will the silver SS band connectors clash with the alum ones or will they be the same finish??

It won't be the same finish. The hinge and buckles on the SS bands will be polished chrome whereas the alum cases are brushed matte silver.

However, if you go with the aluminum Sport version, the best band to get would be the leather loop (just like pictured in the OP) as it contains no metal hinge, although it's only available in 42mm.

Thanks! That is a nice comparison picture...my problem is I think I am going for the 38mm and would prefer the leather loop but, like you said, it appears its only in the larger size...
