New replacement received and it's perfect. Fingers crossed this one is ok going forward :)

Decided just to leave it as it is and not use a screen protector.

I personally think your Watch will be fine without a screen protector. The Saphirre display is excellent.

Just be careful that your black Milanese loop doesn't come into contact with the case and screen of your new watch. I had the same issue with the same combo - the DLC coating on the Milanese loop scratches the screen with minimal contact.
I replaced my first watch because it had some of these scratches out of the box, and after wearing it for a day I noticed that it gained more scratches whenever the loop touched the screen or case (even slightly).
I've been ultra-careful with my replacement which is still in perfect condition. Although I don't use the Milanese loop as my regular band (I have a black woven nylon band for every day). I keen the loop for special occasions so I don't have to baby-sit my watch every time I take it on/off my wrist.
This is definitely a design overslight/flaw by Apple.

That's probably the one band I'm glad I don't own, is the Milanese loop. I've read lots of reports where it's scratching the Apple Watch.

Yeah, giving that one a miss too! Personally (Don't shoot me down people!!), I tried the Milanese loop a while back and wasn't really a fan anyway, I actually thought it looked a tad feminine. That's just my opinion, each to their own, so put away the pitchforks! lol

I just don't like the look of it and I know many have stated it needs constant re-adjusting throughout when wearing it. It's just not for me personally.
