I'm going with this one as well! Probably the classiest looking one, at least without giving up your first born for a link band. I don't see why it would be any different from any other leather band, I doubt they'd sell it if it couldn't handle a bit of sweat or rain. HEAVY rain may be a different story?

I agree. I am not going to be spending 24 hours in the pouring rain or running marathons and sweating on it profusely for 6 hours.

Most of the time it will be light exercise (walking) and a brief little spurts out in the rain.

I too like the classic black ( SS)for all day long. Not too worried about the band not lasting as I have had leather bands in the past( yes I am old enough to have worn a watch regularly since being a kid) and they have lasted for years

I plan on ordering a sports band as well as I am an active runner, biker, weight lifter. I also sail a lot and the salt water spray might not be such a good thing for the leather. But I don't think the sport look is formal enough for the rest of the day.

I was thinking of the Milanese loop originally, but then I remembered I have a perfectly good Cartier classic watch with a stainless steel link band. So when I dress up I can always wear that. And I too wondered how the Milanese would feel while exercising. Plus one of the live pictures of the Milanese on someone's arm seemed to show a gap right near where the band attached. I didn't like that.

Plus for the 38 size the classic black buckle with SS is only 56g, one of the lightest combinations available. This was what finally tipped me over to the black.

But i am like everyone and have been going crazy trying to figure out what I want. I want to order on first day and I live 50 miles from nearest apple store. So a try on session really would be a pain. And I don't want to wait. Not because I want to be trendy. I just can't stand having to have my phone on me all the time to track my steps or see my messages. On spring or summer I often just have shorts on and women's pants are the worst when it comes to pockets!

Lastly, unlike others I don't see the big deal of having the phone on me when I go for a run. I am used to the phone in a small pouch thing which I have strapped around my middle and usually along my back. Don't even feel it really. It will be a blessing not to have to dig phone out of pouch, unlock my phone, find a running app, click start( or end after repeating process). I can do everything from my watch. I do have a running watch( Garmin) but Garmin software stinks, and I have to be sure it is fully charged before each run. Just not happy with it. And it is hard to get the info to apple Health kit. So I am hoping my whole exercise routine will be simplified with the watch

As much as the sport band looks nice, this combo has a more stylish feel, the metal clasps that join the casing and finish the effect of the rounded case are beautiful. I also love the SS buckle, it just feels more like jewelry.

I just wanted to make sure it would hold up to the elements.

Looks like a nice choice. Enjoy!:D

Yea, its either I buy the SS with Sport and eventually by the Leather Buckle for $150.

or just get the SS with the leather buckle to start in the first place.

I was going to do this very same thing but decided to just drop $699 and get the SS with classic buckle right from the gate. I feel better with this choice than settling for the Sport model and still knowing i want more bands. I may still get a sport band down the line but will definitely grab the Milanese soon after my initial purchase.

I've had a simple Citizen's eco-drive, stainless case with black leather band...practically a clone style-wise to this combo. It's a consistent look for me so that's why I'm going with this combo as well (won't look like at quick glance if I have a different watch on - more subtle).

Anyway - the leather band on my relatively cheap watch has lasted just fine for several years through every-day wear and abuse, including submersion.

I would have to imagine Apple's version will at a minimum outdo my eco-drive's black leather band. So I would estimate at least 5 years on that band per your described use-case.

Wanted this combo as soon as it was unveiled, so thats what im gonna get, in 38mm, 42mm would just look massive on my 170cm wrist.. anyone else getting this in 38mm?

I know this string is old, but I'm a slow reader :) I thought I would like the Milanese loop too but when I got to the apple store, guess what, it was the old fashioned classic buckle with SS watch that just went yes that's the one, as I put it on my wrist. All I can advise is go to an apple store and try it on. I hate to admit it but apple were right, it is a personal thing.

And in my experience leather bands never last, no matter what the quality, that's why I was trying so hard to like the metal ones. But I guess I'm just a leather kind of person!

I have the classic buckle that i wear in to the office and for daily use. I have the milanese for when i go out in the evening. Works well for me. The watch looks so classy with the classic buckle and really pops with the Milanese

Got SS Classic 38mm. Love it. Looks great fits well will wear as well as any good leather band .... I also got the Milanese a couple of weeks back ... I just love it also. Hadn't expected to but it's monochromatic Steele shading is elegant.
