Thoughts? Buy a return ticket to the US if you want to buy the Watch Edition. $4000 cheaper !!!!!!

Far too much. To spend almost as much as on my 6+ on a watch which is half the product is crazy.

I'll likely pick one up in the US.

£859 Ouch!

It's totally crazy. I was ready to buy one but these prices are too much. 20% premium over US prices even when taking VAt into account.

No, thanks.

$999 in the US (£660) hmmm, international warranty?

Don't forget VAT @20%, so that is £792 i.e. we pay a £67 premium over the US. I want the 42mm :apple:Watch with the link bracelet and fortunately I can afford £859:)

We do pay a premium over the US, but it is 8.5% when you include the VAT.

Was only ever planning to get a sport so pricing is ok for me. Probably get the space grey model, not sure on size yet.

I wasn't going to get one but this looks great and is the cheapest so why not, bet this sells out first

Thinking more of going there to get them or getting someone to bring two back. Im sure customs won't notice them/me wearing several watches :)

Agreed, that is a good combination but got my heart set on the SS Link (Poor wallet)

It's going to be the black aluminium sport model for me at £299.

I would pay a lot more for a designer watch, but I'm probably going to upgrade every year. Can't justify spending £819 on the Link Stainless Steel edition only to be looking to get rid next year. I'm pretty sure these things won't hold their resale value the way some devices do.

Thats the £859 question, what will the resale value be in a years time. Its not like you're gonna be able to keep that band scratch free in 12 months.

I really like the Apple Watch with the Milanese loop but can't justify spending that much so it will be the sport edition wth black strap.

I wouldn't mind betting I would :)

Seriously though, look how the strap connects to the watch body. There is not a snowball's chance in hell that current straps are going to be compatible with future iterations of AppleWatches.

As the watch body gets smaller and thinner (which it will) it's just not going to be feasible to connect older straps. Maybe they'll be compatible for a year or two, or maybe they'll bring out an adapter but neither of those seem particularly 'designer.' As much as I'd like (and can afford) one of the higher end ones, it just doesn't make sense to me so it's going to be function over form this year, I think.

Even a £299 Sport Edition is the most expensive watch I've ever owned - I'm not much of a jewellery wearer.

Besides, in a couple of months the market will be flooded by 3rd party bands.. £50 for a link band :)

That rose grey leather strap, with the rose gold clasp...

It's $7000 in the US Apple store...

But here in the UK.....

£5500.

( = $8300 at today's rate.

EIGHT THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS....... )

..for a STRAP!

**** me

Space Grey 38mm Sport for me.

Got the green light from the Mrs so day one purchase for me. :D

Good point i guess but will they have crafted it from the same 316L stainless steel alloy as the case and have more than 100 components? Will the machining process be so precise that it takes nearly nine hours to cut the links for a single band ;) #applehavehypnotisedme

Thank was sarcasm, right?

Serious question though. I'm a jewellery philistine. What's the different between the Apple Link band at around £450 and something like this, other than the quality of manufacture? https://www.globalwatchband.com/mat...el-solid-link-men-s-metal-watchband-26mm.html

to be honest.. selling a watch same price as a macbook air is almost obscene to me. I really like the link bracelet band, but not for almost 400 pounds.

The Apple watch with the stainless steel strap looks so right but the price is crazy. I am sure that third party straps will come out that will look just as good for £50
