SOS, no. Messages via satellite, yes.Do you need to have a cellular plan for Satellite SOS?
Emergency SOS, Find My, and Messages via satellite are included for free for two years with the activation of Apple Watch Ultra 3. Connection and response times vary based on location, site conditions, and other factors. Find My and Messages via satellite require a carrier plan. To send and receive SMS from cellular models of Apple Watch over satellite, your paired iPhone must be powered on and connected to Wi-Fi or an active cellular network, but your iPhone doesn’t need to be nearby. SMS message rates may apply. Satellite connectivity provided by Globalstar and its affiliates. See support.apple.com/123924 for more information.
This is one reason I've been looking at it. I was curious if fall detection on the watch would use an iPhone satellite if there was no cell service and it appears it does so that makes that feature a bit less appealing. The hypertension alerts I thought looked interesting but they back ported that too.As someone that spends a lot of time in the backcountry without cell coverage, this is actually an interesting update for me. Would love to be able to replace my Garmin inReach with an Ultra 3 for SOS connectivity.
I have tested my AWU1 on the track multiple times and found it to be within a couple of feet every time. It sounds to me like your watch is defective.I'm upgrading from the Ultra 1 to the 3.
Main reason is for my workouts.
(Also helps that I can get 350$ for my Ultra 1)
I run long distance and this summer every time I run a 10k it register a KM like about many meters afterwards.
From 40 meters to like up to a whopping 200M which ****s up my pace I believe when running.
I know it does since it happens on the track when I clearly did a full lap and it registers it later like what the ****.
I really hope this doesn't happen with my Ultra 3 or Timmy is a bum!
Just something to consider: even if the error is 200m, it's over 10,000m. That's an error of 2%, well within the margin of error for the gps tech. So it doesn't matter if it's Watch ultra 4, 5 etc. The error will always be there depending on many variables (including whether you're in power saving mode etc.)I'm upgrading from the Ultra 1 to the 3.

None, according to the comparison charts at apple.comThe real question for me is, what is the functional difference in terms of the blood oxygen capabilities/sensor between Ultra1 and Ultra3?
Ultra 1 blood oxygen displayed on watch and in vitals app.The real question for me is, what is the functional difference in terms of the blood oxygen capabilities/sensor between Ultra1 and Ultra3?
No I didn’t. go check https://gorecell.ca/$350 for an Ultra 1. Where is that? Apple.ca is $270 and Best Buy is $275. I think you selected Ultra 2.
Oh is that 350 canadian dollars not USD?I'm upgrading from the Ultra 1 to the 3.

Where are you getting $350? Apple is offering me 255 for my Ultra 1 trade in in perfect condition.
It's not that expensive and if and when your so called “real” watch can stream music to my AirPods when I am out running and a host of other functions, then maybe I consider going back. Otherwise they are staying in the drawers unless I am in some black tie events…..Imagine paying so much money for a watch that you should change after 2 or 3 years of use…. But what if you actually buy a real watch that will last forever with you …
Did you take a look at the map in the app after the run? I used to have a similar problem back when I was using an Apple Watch 5. On the map I could see where it went wrong, and if the distances matched the real world distances. This has not been an issue since I upgraded to Ultra 2, which is extremely accurate for my outdoor runs.I'm upgrading from the Ultra 1 to the 3.
