Correction, zero year hiatus. The watch is still available today, and is excellent at what it does. The idea that expensive things like a watch need to be updated every year to add tiny and forgettable tweaks is insane.Correction…

Interesting, mine is also at 89%. It'll be 3 yo in January. Have you noticed it's taking way longer to charge?Exactly what I'm thinking to. For now, my Ultra (the original version) is a joy to use. Battery health is 89% of original capacity and still lasts for a good long time, though noticeably not as long as it used to. I really, really hope that by the time my Ultra needs a new battery replacement that the blood oxygen thing is already back and available to the US market.
Happened for the regular Apple Watch, for 10 years, so, there’s your precedence…Correction, zero year hiatus. The watch is still available today, and is excellent at what it does. The idea that expensive things like a watch need to be updated every year to add tiny and forgettable tweaks is insane.
Sales are falling off a cliff and THIS is what they expect to bring in new buyers? 🤣 Wait, wait, I almost forgot.. it will also feature fastest watch CPU ever!! And maybe some more Neural cores!!!
Is there anybody left in Apple’s employment who understands what people who don’t autobuy Apple products just because they carry the logo actually want?
I think this year they will add solar to it, since in the WWDC Intro they teased that feature with Craig pressing the solar power button on his Apple Watch Ultra... Would make sense, all the others do it...

Have they ever not released a new yearly series watch Gen since it's inception? Id be surprised if they don't launch the 11 series because they market a new watch to go along with your new iPhone every September"Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has suggested the Ultra 3 could gain satellite connectivity and 5G capabilities, features that would arguably help justify the extended development cycle."
I don't see any need to justify it at all, is it necessary we need a new Watch every year adding very marginal changes? I'd prefer it if they left it until they have something meaningful to add.
To be honest I expect them to leave the Series 10 this year with the focus being on the Ultra 3. Maybe we'll see an updated SE at some point over the year and then have the Series 11 next year.
That’s fine. Normalise longer life cycles for products.
If there’s no meaningful update, don’t spin one out for the sake of it.

For BP I use OMRON cuff based HEM-7600T for Blood Pressure calibration. Galaxy Watch is compatible with many cuff based BP monitors. It's convenient to find some provider of medical equipment to calibrate this MONTHLY?
Not until Apple re-enables the missing (lawsuit) blood oxygen features will I be upgrading from my Series 9.
my view is the same for all of the other watches. Not just for this one. It would be good if we could all get out of the yearly refresh cycle.Happened for the regular Apple Watch, for 10 years, so, there’s your precedence…
And the “edition” watches were even more expensive than the Ultra (Ti, ceramic).
So how is the Ultra different?

At this point, you're nuts if you buy a new AW or iPhone without smuggling it in from Canada. No pulse ox on the watch, no SIM slot on the phone.Come to Canada. That works just fine on my watch.
That said, satellite and 5G is not compelling enough for an upgrade.
This. I hope to finally see a smaller version of AWU this year - the size is pretty much the only thing that's stopping me from upgrading from the regular AW.For me, the ultra is meh.
It's just too big and heavy.
Yeah, I'm the guy who complains that my phone isn't big and heavy enough. But this is something that goes on my wrist, I want it smaller and lighter. I made a mistake buying the 45mm 7, I won't be doing that again, when I do decide to get a newer watch it's gonna be the smallest one they sell.
No, a Garmin or Fitbit won't work for me. I got it for the notifications, the phone calls, the heart rate, the ECG, and the pulse ox.
Exactly.This. I hope to finally see a smaller version of AWU this year - the size is pretty much the only thing that's stopping me from upgrading from the regular AW.
Technology advances - even for formerly „top-of-the-line“ smartwatches. You may have been okay with sticking that long to a watch that is 5 generations old now. Others may prioritize differently - and there may be good reasons to update even from an Ultra 2.Do not encourage people who bought top-of-the-line $800 smartwatches less than three years ago to upgrade them for no reason! I've still got a Series 5 (2019!) and I'm only just now considering upgrading this fall.
Interesting question because my sense is that it feels it is taking longer to charge, but could it be because it depletes MORE and therefore to charge back up it takes longer? Previously when it was at 100% capacity, the same amount of use wouldn't have depleted as much of the battery, so there's less it needs to charge back up. That's my guess.Interesting, mine is also at 89%. It'll be 3 yo in January. Have you noticed it's taking way longer to charge?
Same thought. Why bother with 5G? We don't need that kind of speed (it would not show up as any difference, I think, for the Watch, and it also uses more battery power). I'd like even better battery life and battery longevity.Ugh, not 5G! Give us more sensors or a more efficient CPU for better battery life. LTE is plenty fast enough, even for phones… 5G brought a speed increase that’s not even noticeable in the vast majority of situations in exchange for worse battery life... not worth it.
I think SIM slot is going the way of the dodo bird. It can really be eliminated. At this point, you're nuts if you buy a new AW or iPhone without smuggling it in from Canada. No pulse ox on the watch, no SIM slot on the phone.
