Those orange accents (and having only one color option) absolutely kill it for me. Imagine a graphite or darker version with subtle metal-toned contrasting accents. Perhaps more options will be added as the Ultra line grows with next year's models. This looks more like a Sport Pro Apple Watch.

I heard the orange has some international reason for it. They didn't choose it arbitrarily. I think it's called safety orange,

“International Orange” is the color of the trucks of the same name.
Also the color of the Golden State Bridge.

I like orange.

The stainless steel models have been around 450-500 bucks since the watches first came out.
no they haven’t. Look it up. They are 749 right now for 45mm series 8. Sure, they drop in price to 600 after a year and 400 after two years, but the same will likely be true for the ultra.

Orange is the most visible color when you‘re trying to find it on a rocky hillside or at the bottom of a lake.

Ruggedized + Orange is beautiful:

Well yeah and how will it “dress up?” My job requires that I am in court one sometimes two days a week. I generally put on the Milanese loop or a leather band on those occasions. How will those options look on this device?
My wrists covered up in court, could have two full sleeve tattoos and wouldn’t matter 👔

And the watch’s orange accents will coordinate well with the orange jumpsuit you get to wear after court!

As others have stated, the bands appear to be the bottleneck. Ordered one with the black/grey trail band - October 23rd ship date. Cancelled it. Ordered on with the marine band - September 23rd ship date. Checked the band on its own - not shipping until November! Hopefully there will be a good 3rd party NATO band in the near future... and hopefully a thin TPU case to cover up the obnoxious orange.
this is what I’m trying to tell people lol.

all you have to do is look for your second or third favorite band combo, hope that delivers on launch day and then on launch day check your local store availability for the band you actually wanted.

the bands are the reason for the delays and it’s not like they can’t be changed out.

People this is a watch for way more than wandering around hipster joints. Like a Garmin it serves more of a definitive purpose and to do that bigger is better for many reasons. While I have no doubt most sales will go to people who rarely do the things it’s meant for it’s been built to compete with the Garmin type watches.
I suspect you'll be proven right that most sales will go to people who rarely do all the outdoorsy things it's been designed for. For a regular consumer it's the incidental benefits like much improved battery life, and a bigger, brighter screen and 'something new factor' that could pull them in. If you're a stainless watch user, it's circa 50 bucks more to go up to this. For £50 extra I'm certainly tempted by that battery life.

That’s what I did, bought the just okay band and the band I wanted still delivers with it on launch day so added that to the cart. I do want to snag that orange one but will wait to see it in store before committing the 100

Some people pay attention to details? It’s the philosophy at the heart of “make it as nice on the inside as it is on the outside even though people can’t see it.” Also, I gave one example. Also, if you were wearing a Hublot King, for example, I don’t care what suit you are wearing I’d notice it. A sleeve is easier to hide than a massive watch. But hey, you can feel about it however you want.

Or stop caring what others think of what you're wearing? If someone is staring at you to see what you have on, they have the problem. It is creepy of them.

That is literally an incorrect statement, so you know. Besides, if you want to try to come off as the Worldly Wiseman of fancy boy watches, you should probably have more than one and not wear a dive watch with a suit.

Nouveau riche 🙄😄
