Agreed on the macro shots, here’s the thing, I wasn’t looking for anything, nor did I find this thread and look, I was about to start my first workout with ultra and when I looked from normal distance at action button to use it for the first time, a bright spot was flickering as it caught the light, which I thought was a chip or imperfection in the button, macro shows it is indeed a very small ding/dimple whatever, I honestly don’t care except for the fact that it catches light under normal use and is distracting. Found this thread and am trying to understand if they are all like that, which would make an exchange pointless.
Here’s a synopsis about this issue from what I have learned on this thread for those that come here seeking clarity on the side of the action button. It appears Apple decided not to finish out the side of the action button, most likely because the action button is mostly flush with the casing and the side of the button is low visibility. By not finished, I mean you may see varying degrees of texture and anodization (not smooth like outside of button and not consistent orange like outside of button, you may see very small bumps/dimples and you may see silver) it is doubtful this decision was made because the button would be scraped from pressing as others have suggested (see side button on all Apple Watches including ultra, they are perfectly finished and smooth with no scratches forming from pressing). It probably came down to the saving money, even the smallest details require work and work costs money.
