Capacitive screens need heat in order to work. When you're attempting to hit the lock numbers while on it's side, are you pressing the screen fully with the soft part of your thumb/finger?

Great news! I figured out your problem.

You’ve got a cheap microscope slide scotch-taped to the face of the watch. I’ve no clue how that happened, but it’s getting between your fingers and the display, keeping the watch from recognizing your input.

Scrape off that junk, clean the watch according to Apple’s instructions, reboot the watch, and all should be good.

If the problem persists, it may well be because moisture got trapped beneath the microscope slide, which released some of the solvents in the scotch tape, which then did a number on the watch’s seals. That’ll need service by Apple. But … it probably won’t be covered by warranty. In which case, you have my sympathy.

Just be sure to keep your watch clean, and especially don’t let microscope slides and scotch tape accumulate to the degree you have … frankly, I’ve never seen a watch as gunked up as yours.

As the famous quote goes, "What we've got here is failure to communicate."

It's the screen protector, plain and simple. Argue all you want, but your problems will go away the moment you remove it.

Sorry.

Hello and greetings to all from Montenegro.
I own Apple Watch Ultra for a less than a month.
I love it.
But i have one question that i dont know how to explain , but i will try best that i can.
I have thin screen protector film on a watch , just to protect it from minor scrathes , and i have spigen RUGGED ARMOR case.
Everything works great until one day , i placed watched on charger , SPIGEN NIGHT STAND , and when watch is on charging and i try to unlock my watch , sometimes i enter code right away , and sometimes I am typing a code but watch keeps deliting it like I am pressing delete button , and I dont do that.
Sometimes it types code normaly ????
When i remove it from charger , it acts normaly.
Exepct when its raining , then watch goes a little crazy , but as soon as I wipe screen it goes back to normal.
What is this?
Is this normal?
I didnt had that on my series 6
Remove the screen protector. That is the issue. Trust me, you don’t need it. I had the Apple Watch Ultra series one for one year and had damage to the body but never any scratches or anything on the sapphire glass. It is significantly stronger than the titanium and not the weakest link in watch durability. This will be the least of your problems. I would not worry about scratching the glass. The titanium is the real issue and where you are going to see, scuffs marks, and dents. I would just recommend getting a watch case with integrated band. See what I use in the attached photo. I used this same band with my AWU 1 and now my AWU 2.
