The glass is flush in 3 corners, slightly dipped in bottom left corner, completely flush top right, anyone else seeing this?
It is advertised as having a significant raised lip from the casing to protect the crystal from accidental bumps.

I gotta say, the fit and finish QC on these otherwise excellent ultras is not great.

no such issues nor any others with mine. if you are within your return window, do so if you're not happy

is the gap significant or super subtle on yours? Could you bump into it with a fingernail for instance?
Top right corner, completely flush.

So what are you doing about it?

my screen is flush with the casing on my ultra and the one i tried on at the apple store was also flush too

I am exchanging it, also has a ding in the bezel out of box
not supposed to be flush, they made a pretty big deal about it in the promo video.
I will inspect replacement before return, if no better, I will keep what I have.

No where did they say it would be “recessed”. Mandela effect I guess. Here’s an excerpt from their Newsroom page: ”Made from aerospace-grade titanium, Apple Watch Ultra provides the perfect balance of weight, durability, and corrosion resistance. The case rises up to surround all edges of the flat sapphire front crystal, protecting the Retina display, which is up to 2000 nits — 2x brighter than any Apple Watch display yet.” It “surrounds” the edge, which includes being “flush with”. Provide the ad you saw that indicated that it would be recessed.

Oh yeah?
That is the impression I got from this video and you can see it extending as well.
So maybe the ones that I have seen receded are simply acceptable tolerance differences?
I am completely open to being wrong about this, I often am, but that is the impression I got from the video here.

Right, I think the part I bolded above can be misinterpreted. All it's saying is that the case rises up around the edges of the glass (compared to the other Apple Watches)...not that it rises above the face. On the Ultra, the edge of the glass/display is protected from bumps and hits compared to the other Apple Watches.

Even if it did rise above the face of the glass, how is that going to protect it? It's not like a phone where you might lay it flat on a table and want the glass slightly lifted. Anything would still be able to hit the display when worn.

I am thinking you are exactly right. From that video and from other watches I have seen, confusion wasn't entirely out of the question in my defense lol
That said, here is what is an actual out of box issue, is this typical, a ding in the chamfered bezel?

Yes, I am one of those customers that holds them to standards of quality, but also if dings are typical, would prefer not to bother with replacement.

I'm not sure what is advertised but whatever the case may be, yours is still crooked :)
Return that bad boy!

I can catch my fingernail all the around mine.

Thanks for the helpful replies, seems my original issue is something that falls into small tolerance differences that are acceptable, which I am okay with, second is 100% out of box damage, but also damage that is likely to quickly incur with usage. Since I already ordered replacement, I will inspect newer watch and go from there on which one goes back, based on quality/hassle ratio.

On my Apple Watch Ultra, the glass is definitely not flush with the bezel.

That is how I thought it was supposed to be, for a little added protection, but I’m not sure now. I at least would like the display level, mine is flush one corner, dipped down on the other, I will update on the exchanged model. All said ultra is a badass Apple Watch best ever by far, just some fit and finish annoyances.

If I run a fingernail across the screen, it catches on each edge and corner. Not a lot, but it's there. I wouldn't call it recessed though.

Given the ding on yours, it sounds like your unit got munged in production. Get a new one.

Got the exchange, good riddance to that dent... on subject of thread, screen is mostly flush, if recessed at all, very slight. I personally do not mind recessed, but after the points made on this thread, I am not sure what the intended placement of glass in housing is. It is odd that some are more flush and some have a raised lip. It is not like the iPhones front or back glass is recessed, Apple has gotten very good at exact placement of glass. It is a mystery.

I'd say there is about a 1mm lip around all sides of my screen. Easy to feel with your finger and actually visible as well. Very similar if not identical to @mico1964 image above.

Oh man now I’m annoyed that mine has about a 0.1mm lip as per photo. How dare Apple have tolerances greater than 10 microns.

Reviews I’ve seen also talk about a raised lip
