As posted on Apple's beta feedback app today. "The new Workout design is much harder to use and the new workout screen has far too many options on one screen. Easy to select the wrong workout. Much harder to get to the actual workout one wants. Scrolling through the workouts is slow, and it takes a finite amount of time for the play button to appear. The play button is unnecessary. Just go back to tapping the center, on actual the workout icon, that was much much better. / I know I'm not alone on this because there are literally thousands of similar complaints on Reddit, MacRumours, and other sites"

Did a 2 hour free weight workout. Pressed Traditional Weight Training. Forgot to pick one of the 3 options. After 2 hours looked at my watch and it was still waiting for me to press start. It never reminded me, never suggested I start a workout, recorded zero effort, zero exercise, zero time exercising. Complete fail on Apples part
It’sa special kind of frustrating when fitness tech lets you down like that. A whole two hours almost feels wasted despite benefiting from the exercise.
I feel your frustration.

This is correct. The smaller touch target is a significant usability retrogression. For other reasons I regret doing the upgrade but this is definitely the main reason I regret doing the upgrade on the watch, which used to work great.🍸😿

Not a fan as well. There needs to be delineation between workouts, like the previous OS. The endless scrolling is just not a good UI decision.

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but my Ultra 3 failed to track my heart rate for most of today's workout. Neither of my Ultras had ever done that before, and I use them everyday.
I had a problem with indoor rowing workout, not tracking my heart rate all through the early betas. This was fixed in 26.2b2, but has failed again in 26.2b3. Reported to Apple's beta feedback site.

I don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be. Yeah it could do with some tweaks like when you scroll, it would be good if the buttons show up sooner, but it still works fine. Also if you really don't like it just lift your watch to your mouth and say "start run workout" or "start walk" etc and you can bypass the UI entirely.

I switched from an Apple Watch to a Garmin Fenix years ago and couldn't be happier. Having PHYSICAL BUTTONS to control the watch when you have sweaty hands is so much better than only a touch screen.

The other benefit is that I charge my watch twice a month rather than every 18 hours...

I use the workout app daily, and I agree 100%. It is a big downgrade. The one feature I like is the ability to start or stop a workout on the iPhone, which I use on my walks. However, for the most part I use the Apple Watch without a phone nearby when I work out, and I often find the interface too slow.

I went swimming today and the new version of the app did not turn on the water setting. Fortunately did not seem to damage my watch during my swim.

every year the OS gets worse and worse, its because of job security, cant have a bunch of developers sitting around not doing anything

The watch is still sealed. All the os dos is turn down the screen and blow out the water from the speaker grill.

Don't mind the new one but older one was easier to use. Not sure on how Apple takes feedback but will be interesting to see whether some design changes to UI will happen in the future.

Came across this thread and finally felt some sanity!

Agree with all points, and especially bugged by stupid animations and scrolling in what should be quick reliable glanceable interactions.

This feels like ensh!tification. And it’s frustrating and sad for company like Apple..

Just use WorkoutDoors. It’s clearly designed by someone who actually does exercise rather than poses at the gym.
