No need for a watch but in the UK Apple Pay rocks, I use on the train and in my local supermarket, coffee's etc so stupid we had to wait so long to get it!!

Oh yeah, plus it helps that Europe is much more advanced when it comes to contactless payments. Apple Pay is so sweet and it works 100% of the time for me. Just added another card as well, now I just wish I had more money so I can use it more hahah.

I've been happily using it for the last week or so - I had to switch bank (away from Barclays UK) to do it. Not had any issues. Reasonably happy with the £20 at present.

A few people in shops have commented that it's the first time they've seen it used.

Same here, people look at me like I came from the future, especially when I authenticate with my finger and I get the little tick. It's so awesome

Who's "they"?...

Starbucks do have contactless terminals in some of the London branches, hopefully they'll get round to upgrading them all soon!

What do you mean some? They all do and have for years at least all the once I have been too, even once outside London.

"Blow money on yet more things"??? The beauty of this statement is that it's so stupid and absurd as to make you look very bad. I actually think that you believe that having apple pay makes me spend money I wouldn't have normally spent just to use apple pay, whether on the watch or iPhone.

Yes, you're correct. I really didn't want that $4000 new tv, but I bought it just so I could use apple pay on my watch.
But the meat, produce, etc that I get at Whole Food and the prescriptions I pick up at Walgreens are the exact same products I would get if I used a credit card.

And the "fact" that's it's marginally useful to you doesn't mean it isn't very useful to me. Why do you think you can speak for me?

What is wrong with your people? Why do you make up absurdities in order to justify your stupid and blind hatred? Don't you realize you only demean and denigrate yourselves in the process. You certainly don't impress the intelligent participants here.

They are insecure about themselves and pissed off that they still have an iPhone 4s.

I don't see any point in Apple Pay or any other mobile payment solutions since none of them can really replace my wallet. Until people are able to get some kind of digital driver licenses, SS cards, passports, insurance cards etc. Apple Pay will remain a novelty.

Riiiighhhhtttttttt. Speaking for everyone or just you?

Would all those little reasons make spending at least $349 on a device that will be outdated in 2 years worth it?

You do know what technology is and how it works right?
Why spend money on a car or for that matter anything when it's getting replaced in 2-3 years. Some logic you got there

I know they have the barcode reader thing but I've been to a few that didn't have the NFC reader. The Starbucks next to the Shard for example didn't have NFC last time I went, although that was a while ago, it wasn't years ago! I'll keep an eye out next time I'm in a Starbucks then! Cheers!

Fair enough. Maybe I am just lucky with my Starbucks. Hehe

You don't seem to understand.

My point is that the 1st gen Apple Watch is an overpriced piece of crap.

Then in the interest of protecting people from themselves, let's just eliminate credit cards, checkbooks, apple watches, etc. Only cash.

So sad that you don't understand personal responsibility. That you would condemn and blame a credit card or iPhone, or watch for making people spend more money than if they used cash is simply the desperate statement of an apple hater and basher. Surely you've sent letters to Master Card etc blasting them for making people waste their hard earned income on unnecessary purchases. For if you haven't but yet condemn apple, you are a hypocrite.

What is sad is that you're assuming I have no understanding of personal responsibility, that I'm condemning and blaming credit card companies or iphone, or that I'm an Apple hater or basher. All of which are incorrect and unfounded. I'm simply stating that CC companies want to make CC transactions as disconnected from the fact that real money is being transferred. It is in their best interest to do so. The more people spend, the more they make. Plain and simple. I've cast no blame on anyone in my previous comments. Maybe read them a little more carefully before calling me a hypocrite?

nobody is using apple pay in US. this is just wishful thinking layered on top of fantasy reports.
Would be interesting to see what the satisfaction scores are just in the UK - aside from the very first time I tried it it's been perfect ever since, and contactless is fairly widely spread here.

I've been in Luxembourg for 10 days and our campsite had contactless - I was just too embarrassed to ask in my worst French whether my phone would work (left the apple watch at home) given the conversations I've had in the UK to explain that, yes I am going to pay with my watch lol..

here in Spain (Barcelona) not any difference. Contactless is business at usual so payment with AW is virtually almost everywhere possible.
