I suppose Angela, at compensation levels near 100 million range, is a certified high end shopper but really as an executive, Burberry was neither high end (like merchandise Maxfield sells) nor did they sell watches in the $17k range.
I guess it's all in the effort to try to make the Apple Watch fashionable and cool but I don't know if I like Apple becoming snobby in this way.

apple fans from non apple users perspective, have always been more wealthy (this is statistically true) and viewed as snobs but in Apple buyers defense, Apple has always made functionally superior products to justify the cost.
But this level of snobbery and celebrity catering makes me a big squeamish.

She's only getting 70M the first year (because she had to leave vesting stock options at Burberry). Other years I am sure she's not getting over 10M.

Celebrity catering when maybe 10-15 celebs that are used for marketing are getting it? Another over the top assessment for the highlight reel.

Point: Confusion lies with Apple's decision to give third party retailers stock on launch day compared to fulfilling backorders on Apple.com and denying stock in Apple retail stores where they have more traffic than high end retailers.

Those retailers sign contracts and I suppose expect stocks to be delivered. Apple could off course screw them over, but screwing retailers you need in the future is not a very good way to do business... (and possibly a bigger PR nightmare as those stores are pretty high profile in that retail sphere).

BTW, they're selling less than 2500 watches world wide at all of these stores put together. Not sure how that would help overall shipments delays; it wouldn't move the needle substantially anywhere when they probably got 4M pre-orders at least.

I went to DSM London, I waited around outside, I called the number and got an appointment for Sunday ;) Saw the first guy get his watch though so I'm happy for him ..... ish :)

so, Apple watch orders online only, yet some high Boutique store customer can get walk in only because its the Gold watch ?

why only some ?

Apple doesn't plan to offer the Apple Watch for sale in its retail stores on Friday, having opted to restrict orders to online purchases only, but some retail stores around the world will have Apple Watches in stock for customers to purchase on April 24.

Several high-end fashion boutiques will be offering the watch for sale beginning Friday, according to a new report from The New York Times. Stores with stock will include Dover Street Market in Tokyo and London, Maxfield in Los Angeles, Colette in Paris, the Corner in Berlin, and 10 Corso Como in Milan.

All of these stores were previously unveiled as retail locations that would carry the Apple Watch, but it was not known that the stores would have stock for customers to purchase on launch day, given the Apple Watch supply constraints that Apple has highlighted. In a press release sent out on April 9, Apple retail chief Angela Ahrendts said "strong customer demand" would exceed supply at launch.

Many of the stores have the Apple Watch displayed prominently on their websites, along with wording that says the device will be available in store as of Friday. As noted by The New York Times, all of the places that will have the Apple Watch in stock on Friday are high-end fashion-oriented boutiques known as "retail trendsetters."

It's not known exactly how much stock each of the stores will be given or of what type, but Dover Street Market did share some detail on its numbers. The store in Ginza, Tokyo will have 350 watches to sell, while the store in London will have 570. Neither store will offer the Apple Watch Edition, as it is backordered.

Apple initially declined to comment on its partner stores offering in-store Apple Watch stock while its own retail stores will not, but later reiterated its earlier comment on getting online orders out to customers earlier than expected. The first Apple Watch shipments will be arriving on the doorsteps of customers beginning on April 24, and as of today, many Apple Watch orders that had shipping estimates ranging into several weeks have seen their shipments advance into the "Preparing for Shipment" stage.

And you're a retail genius? How many high volume stores do you manage, and how many items like the AppleWatch have you been in charge of rolling out?

And who asked you for a response. I can have an opinion you guys really like to attack ..

What I wrote, was not in response to any of your opinions. What I wrote was a defence of logic and an expression of annoyance at those who have been unfairly attacking Anglea.
