In addition to outlining his expectations for the iPhone 15 lineup today, tech analyst Jeff Pu said Apple will likely release two notable products in 2024, including the first Apple Watch with a micro-LED display and lower-priced AirPods.

In a research note for Hong Kong investment firm Haitong International Securities, Pu said a new high-end Apple Watch will likely adopt a larger 2.1-inch micro-LED display measured diagonally, which would allow for increased brightness compared to current Apple Watch models with OLED displays. This model would presumably be a new version of the Apple Watch Ultra, which launched last September and has a 1.92-inch display.

Pu referred to the lower-priced AirPods as "AirPods Lite," but it's unlikely that Apple would actually use this branding. He said these AirPods would be priced lower to compete with wireless headphones from other companies, but he did not share any further details. Currently, the $129 second-generation AirPods are the cheapest option from Apple.

Pu has a mixed track record in regards to predicting Apple's future plans, and these AirPods and Apple Watch details have not been previously rumored, so this information is far from certain yet. Apple's plans for its 2024 products could also change over time.

I think OLED is an upgrade, Mini LED a downgrade. But micro LED was meant to be better but still seems a way off yet?
Still cool Apple is trying something different with the Apple Watch.

It was pristine clear that next version will use all the space avalaible, thinner bezels.Present Apple Watch Ultra display is almost the same zise as Apple Watch 8.

I NEED ONE.

I think the ultra design style will filter down to the new apple watches in some fashion which I am all in for. The current ultra watch is too big in general. But then again, I had the series 4 and never wore it after 4 months of using it and maybe im not a watch guy but will see if there a watch version 9 mini ultra version.

I'd rather expect higher-priced AirPods Ultra, rugged for climbers, divers desert and arctic expeditions. If Apple ever feels it can't keep up with the competition, they'd rather leave the headphone market entirely than cut prices.

Sorry, micro led would be a downgrade to me. Things should be ,owing towards OLED, not away from it.

I think you’re confusing it with mini LED Apple uses now in the iPad and MacBook Pro.

Micro LED is similar to OLED in that every pixel can be turned on or off individually giving it an infinite contrast ratio. However it can get even brighter than OLED and has zero risk of burn in.

It isn’t currently used in any consumer device as it can’t be viably produced yet due to yield issues.

Micro LED > OLED > Mini LED

Micro-LED is suppose to be better than OLED?
It is ! While mini LED is not as good as OLED, micro LED is better. In fact, on an OLED display, each pixel emits its own light, which is the exact same way, micro LED works. Though, with OLED displays, LEDs are organic which can make permanent marks on display when getting older and are less bright than regular LEDs. These issues are solved by micro LED. The issue with micro LED is that it’s really really expensive, for example, a standard size micro LED tv costs around 100 000$ and that’s the reason why this technology isn’t used in any tech product right now
