Thanks for confirming my suspicions about Beats. They sound like the Ghetto Blaster of headphones. Good for c-Rap music but nothing else.
Well the music that is selling in any volume these days is either rap, electronic, or infused with one of those sounds. Beats headphones are designed for what is actually selling. Most other headphones sound crappy when trying to deliver the lower frequencies of current music. That's why they sell so well.

So I guess whoever writes the copy for Apple's website thinks this is "beautiful"? I hope to god this is one of the first things Apple ditches. And maybe considering how expensive this gear is they can move away from crappy plastic? When I was at the Apple store looking for a wireless speaker I couldn't believe how cheap looking and feeling the Pill was. Nothing like the Bose soundlink mini I ended up getting. That thing has some real heft to it, wrapped in a beautiful aluminum shell.

There's something that feels so wrong about this, I don't know what it is but... Feels wrong.

It feels wrong because it is wrong. Why is it wrong? It is wrong because Apple was a truly revolutionary company which changed the game and won by focusing all its efforts on creating quality, magic, and - yes - beauty. No other maverick has ever surpassed the successful ingenuity of Steve Jobs, although a few others equal it - Edison, Marconi, Tesla, Ford, etc.

Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine represent all that has sought to demolish, destroy, and end the dreamland that was once America. They and their ilk envy and hate those who proved themselves giants of industry, ingenuity and progress. There's a reason why people have been calling Steve Jobs the last great American innovator. It is because America has fallen into the hands of those who seek to tear it down and trample it into nothing - only for their petty jealousy and to prove themselves superior to something they evidently cannot even understand.

The true hate comes from the pots calling the kettles black. And before you launch your vitriol against me for my truth-telling, please remember that Steve Jobs was, biologically if not culturally, half-Syrian -- Arab. I suspect it was knowledge of this that gave him the impetus and understanding of how to deal with naysayers and parasites who would seek to detract and destroy his piercing vision. We are all limited by out physiology -- it's just that some of us accept that limitation while others don't, and some of us even go so far as to blame that limitation on others.

That's what I was thinking. I have no idea why Apple wanted to buy this company. There are much better sounding headsets/speakers than beats.

Apple bought them for the Music Industry contacts.. Not the stylish headgear.

Came in here to read post by people who do not run multi-billion dollar companies comment on how they think they know better.

Was not disappointed

I've always loved Beats headphones and I'm delighted they are now part of the Apple family of products. It's really exciting to see two industry leaders coming together to build new products that will further enhance our love of music.

I imagine someone saying that statement over a booming mic with all the DEEP BASS turned up! :D

Yeah, in my opinion, they should have invested in a 3D printing company.

That would have been -- apparently -- too forward thinking for post-Jobs Apple.

Eugenics went out of style a while ago...

Meanwhile, Beats' web designer decided that Times New Roman was the best way to welcome Apple on their website.

Noticed this right away, ahah! How ugly!

Maybe they changed it, but that's not Times New Roman

Maybe they did change it, but it's definitely not Times New Roman. Yes, it's a serif typeface but it's Garamond. And even if you don't have Garamond, it will go for Cambria, Hoefler Text, Liberation Serif, and regular Times before it will go for Times New Roman. ;)

And if you think it's ugly, remember when Apple used a variant of Garamond? They seemed to have moved away from it about 10 years ago, but I wouldn't be surprised if it became "cool" again in the future like flat UIs apparently are again now. :)

As for Beats itself, I'm still questioning why Apple decided to do this, but I guess we'll see what happens.

Right. But it's the money making headphones that gave Apple the cover to do it. It's hard for Wall Street to complain when Apple can trot out how much revenue the headphones bring in.

Oh jesus...here we go with the "audiophiles" and the unfathomable acquisition of Beats...Get over it...it happened...lets move on.

All the naysayers here commenting on headphone audio quality should sign up for a 14-day free trial for Beats Music and give it a legitimate chance. After the 2 weeks are up you'll never want to open iTunes again.

I love Beats Music...it gets better everyday for me...and I'll be signing up for a paid subscription as soon as my trial ends this month. It's that good. Incredibly cool design, great music curation, and light years ahead of the antiquated iTunes model.

This is the real beginning of the real end of Apple - no matter how long it lasts or what it turns into.

With the new acquisition they have made, Apple are going to have a bigger force to innovate with. When people say they're going to add Beats sound to everything, you're joking right - that's not Apple's nature.

Apple is about innovating new products, it's more likely to phase out all Beats products and make a new product that is more Apple-like - something that you wouldn't associate with Beats, and would associate with Apple instead. It's quite obvious Apple needed something different adding to their team that developed the EarPods, etc

Edit: maybe it's about the youthful minds they've acquired - I don't know, we'll see what comes out of this soon. They'll enforce Apple's nature upon them soon :p

ITT: "Oh my goodness how could a street ruffian possibly get his hands on my beloved company!"

Relax granddads.

Hey there Mr. Strawman, how is your day?

/Chronic (and Doggystyle) is one of the best albums ever made.

I hope you have a long position in Reynolds Wrap futures.
