A word of warning to people in this thread who like this acquisition. You will be accused of flip flopping even though you never actually did.

A word of warning to the people who hated it in the beginning and still hate it now. You will be completely ignored because you don't fit into the narrative of flip flopping.

On topic, we'll see what they have in store. I still don't think this is just about headphones, because that's dumb.

That's what I was thinking. I have no idea why Apple wanted to buy this company. There are much better sounding headsets/speakers than beats.

Not so much for the masses of consumers who listen to music on stock buds or other inferior headsets. Beats are probably pretty impressive to the people they are marketed to.

Really all the hate you just spew out in this passage  Apple is in the business to make money and Beats is a popular company that has a large following. You dislike "Beats" which is totally your right but there is a generation out there that Beats appeals to

Your citing of popularity as a legitimate criterion betrays your lack of understanding.

It feels wrong because it is wrong. Why is it wrong? It is wrong because Apple was a truly revolutionary company which changed the game and won by focusing all its efforts on creating quality, magic, and - yes - beauty. No other maverick has ever surpassed the successful ingenuity of Steve Jobs, although a few others equal it - Edison, Marconi, Tesla, Ford, etc.

Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine represent all that has sought to demolish, destroy, and end the dreamland that was once America. They and their ilk envy and hate those who proved themselves giants of industry, ingenuity and progress. There's a reason why people have been calling Steve Jobs the last great American innovator. It is because America has fallen into the hands of those who seek to tear it down and trample it into nothing - only for their petty jealousy and to prove themselves superior to something they evidently cannot even understand.

The true hate comes from the pots calling the kettles black. And before you launch your vitriol against me for my truth-telling, please remember that Steve Jobs was, biologically if not culturally, half-Syrian -- Arab. I suspect it was knowledge of this that gave him the impetus and understanding of how to deal with naysayers and parasites who would seek to detract and destroy his piercing vision. We are all limited by out physiology -- it's just that some of us accept that limitation while others don't, and some of us even go so far as to blame that limitation on others.

I'm not a big fan of this acquisition... but what you've written here makes little to no sense. Can you please explain what the bejesus you're rambling about?

Came in here to read post by people who do not run multi-billion dollar companies comment on how they think they know better.

Was not disappointed

Stick around for accusations of people flip flopping and why dre is akin to jeffrey dahmer and all society is on an unstoppable path to brimstone lol.

How is it better than Spotify? One of my favorite stations on SiriusXM is the Coffee House. I find new music I like there and then go add it to my playlists on Spotify. It's rare that I can't find something on Spotify. What would entice me to dump Spotify for Beats? This "curation" buzzword nonsense Iovine keeps spitting out?

If you're happy with Spotify than so be it. My comment wasn't designed to convert you but rather address the "This stinks, Apple is buying a crappy headphone company!" crowd.

I guess my only comment to you would be that I prefer the design of Beats to Spotify and as a devout Appleholic I'm excited to see how Apple will help make Beats Music even better once it's further integrated into the Apple ecosystem across iOS and OS X.

This feels kinda like when a friend marries someone you don't think is right for them... you may have your reservations, but once they're married, nothing to do but wish them well and hope for the best! :p

For all the nay-sayers and haters - what are you complaining about?

Everyone has an opinion. But, if you are not a shareholder of Apple stock, why should you care about what Apple does with its shareholder's money? I mean, really, why does this, or any other acquisition that Apple makes gets you all riled up?

There are two or three possible outcomes with this acquisition:
1. It's a huge success and adds (in a big way) to Apple's bottom line.
2. It's a huge flop and impacts Apple's bottom negatively.
3. Or something in between.

So, please, someone, anyone who is not a shareholder of Apple stock clearly articulate without ranting why this acquisiton causes you such discontent?

What announcement?

A RIF at Beats.

Do you have a favorite sports team? If they lose do you get upset? Why?

If not...also why? People like apple and people are allowed to have opinions.

Here's a question for you...why do you care that people are upset about it?

Still waiting for a clear, articulate answer. Thanks for trying....

What was unclear and "un-articulate" about "people like apple and people are allowed to have opinions"?

If you'd like to tell me exactly where you got confused I can try to explain it slowly to you.

I used a pair of Beats at walmart last night (not the proudest moment of my life) and I have to say I wasn't impressed with the quality. It sounded tinny and far away. I don't see the allure.

ITT: "Oh my goodness how could a street ruffian possibly get his hands on my beloved company!"

Relax granddads.

You're off the mark kiddo. It's the low quality.

This beats thing is like hearing that plexi glass is being purchased and will be used as the new iPhone screen.

To each their own, I suppose. The world would be very boring if everyone agreed.

I simply can't understand why this acquisition is so hard on some people. I think it was a good move for the company. Some people have some inner stuff going on that they need to work on.

I'm sorry that what I wrote goes above your head.

Has anyone told you that it's rude to be arrogant and condescending? I'd like some clarification on your rant, and your response is to insinuate that I'm not smart enough to understand it? Guess humility isn't your thing.
