I would imagine Apple are embarrassed and have everyone working on the issue to release the Watch OS today or tomorrow. The longer it goes on, the more likely the press will start to make a deal out of it.

You have no idea how complex the bug could be, plus they have to identify the issue, develop a fix then have to test the fix, then if the fix breaks other things, fix those.

They can't just magic up a fix. They can't rush it either, because it could just cause more of a PR issue. The press will bash Apple no matter what, so that won't be bothering them that much.

I call to Apple Online Center, they told me that.

When it comes to OS updates, They know less than Jon Snow

Fingers crossed in 30 minutes.....!

Nope.

They are supposed to start selling watch in Brussels on Saturday. It would be embarrassing not to have update for the launch.

Not really that embarrassing. Even if WatchOS2 was released yesterday, let alone today/tomorrow, the watches sold In store Saturday won't be on it. Whenever I've bought a device in a week or 2 after an OS update releases, I've still had to do an update. My mum bought a 5S a month after the 6 came out last year and it had iOS7 on it.

Can it Shandy man and drink some beer!

It can't be that big a bug as they would not have announced that it would be coming 'shortly', they would not have given any time-frame indication at all if they thought it would take longer than a few days.

Like I said, when you're Apple, you throw everyone on it.

Wow, a rude, condescending, naive reply, with no facts or any sense of logic.... Great post.

Shortly is a vague term. Bearing in mind 'Early 2015' for the Apple Watch was end of April

You can 'throw' all the people you want on it, but when it's a bug big enough to postpone the launch, that won't matter. Also, the more people you put on it, the trickier it gets to deal with it and doesn't really speed things up.

The bug that is the showstopper is that native apps hang when launching, which means it was probably only just discovered when devs started submitting app updates to provide the native watch apps before the weekend. That's a massive problem.

sucks how some of my apps aren't working in glances or whatever. developers were ready to launch with OS2, now their app is bologna.

If that is true for everyone... There is going to be a lot of ticked off watch owners.

You don't pony up the kind of scratch Apple is asking for those then render them nearly useless with an iPhone update... or rather you shouldn't get away with a move like that... oh yeah, this is Apple... they will get away with it... and be praised for it.

My Apple Watch with 1.0.1 is working with iOS 9 on my iPhone 6 with no problems that I've noticed.

I've been testing the iOS 9.1 PB on an iPhone 5S with watchOS 1.0.1 with no issues. I would like to start testing with 2.0. Can't wait till they get the glitches rubbed out.

I

I agree

I'd prefer a complete working version, then a buggy one!

Really? I'd prefer a complete working version, then another complete working version. Rather than having a complete working one, then a buggy one.

I hope this isn't official and just something you are experiencing cause that's going to piss a lot of watch owners off.
it's not. My notifications work fine after 9 upgrade.

One down side is if you don't have an iPhone 6 and you intended to add your Discover Card to Apple Pay on the watch, it won't let you unless you have Watch OS 2.

My notifications have been spotty. I get some for example recived a text from my wife asking why I haven't responded to her, when I looked at my phon I had 5 messages asking me to stop at the grocery store on my way home from work. This is one example its happened several times since Wednesday.

Mine did too... more reliably actually.

I used to miss about 5% of all notifications. They would be there on my iPhone and just not on my Apple Watch. (yes, I checked the fracking settings ;)).

Have yet to pull my phone out to be greeted by a notification that I did not get on my watch. I should have at least 2 or 3 by now if everything was identical to 8.4.1.

Much better than I feared...

I'd say middle of next week, at the earliest.
I don't expect it any earlier than that, things like that take their time. It would be great to have it ready for the iPhone launch next week, as I am keen to find out, if live photos will work as a watch face (like the jelly fish and butterflies).
