Wait what? GM means that there are no serious bugs or issues that would stop the software from being released and they find one just before release? It should have been sitting somewhere waiting to go live on a set date.

So they were still working on it today? WTF, seriously.

Better than the iOS8 bricking update.

Was kind of hoping to update, but ever since the iOS8 update and the iTunes Apple Music bug that's STILL affecting large libraries of iTunes users, I'll update my things a month or more afterwards, when I've scoured the forums for all potential issues. Trust is gone.

While I'm sure there are quite a few people bummed about this (including myself), I'd much rather Apple delay the release of OS 2 and fix the bug rather than releasing it to the masses and consumers find out themselves.

Ah well, I like that they are holding it back due to a recently discovered bug.
Why push it out before it is ready?
Chances are it is the battery-draining thing that so many have experienced on the GM?
It happened on my wifes sport, but not on mine.
An unpair and re-pairing solved it for her, as it did for many others though.
But imagine all the calls and genius bar work this would have created if released to the general public...

Yep, the battery-draining bug is real. Was only getting about 6 hours battery on GM release. unpair/re-pair fixed it.

Blarg. Well as much as I was excited I was kicking myself for remembering my watch charger when I was half way to work this morning.

Really lame Apple. I hope this and any other bug is squished before its released otherwise it'll be really embarassing.
What's really lame is that there are some people who actually think that any software released by anyone, anywhere, will be bug free. It's really just not possible, for so many reasons.
Instead of blasting Apple, you should be praising them for checking out the software until the very end. If you read the notice and actually read it, it would appear this bug was found a while back with the anticipation of fixing it by today, but that just didn't happen. Perhaps you'd find Samsung software to be less buggy than Apple, and you should get a Samsung device.

I just don't understand some of the comments made here. I just add those who make these kinds of silly comments to my ignore list. Bye

Where is Steve when we need him?

I gather he's in the same place since mid-October 2011. A little morbid, not sure what that info will do for you, though.

Maybe Apple forgot to put in the instability countdown code that's supposed to coincide when their second-generation model will be released. That code has been working beautifully in every version of iOS, as my brand new iPhone 6 Plus has been crashing more often right when the 6s Plus is due to come out in the coming weeks.

While Apple announced last week that it would be releasing iOS 9 and watchOS 2 to the public today, the company has just announced that it will not be releasing watchOS 2 as scheduled due to a recently discovered bug.

TechCrunch has shared the full text of Apple's notice.Apple seeded the intended golden master version of watchOS 2 to developers immediately following last week's media event, but the company will need to make some final tweaks to address the discovered bug before it feels comfortable releasing the updated operating system to the public.

This sucks. iOS 9 is incompatible with watch OS 1.0.1. I get no notifications

If that is true for everyone... There is going to be a lot of ticked off watch owners.

You don't pony up the kind of scratch Apple is asking for those then render them nearly useless with an iPhone update... or rather you shouldn't get away with a move like that... oh yeah, this is Apple... they will get away with it... and be praised for it.

Edit: it is not true. My notifications are actually more reliable with iOS9, watchOS 1.0.1.

Whats lame? They found a bug and they're going to fix it! That's how it's done.

Embarrassing would be to release a software with bugs and fix those months later.

I really give them thumbs up for actually fixing a problem instead of shipping garbage like many other software companies nowadays. Especially the gaming industry ships half-baked crap and make you even pay for it.

Agreed!!! That's why it shocked me that somebody is complaining and calling Apple lame for fixing a problem before they inconvenience customers by letting them install it a major bug. Oh how I wish MR would follow along with Zuckerberg and bring back the down-vote button.

I wonder if it has to do with messages. I received some texts moments ago that appeared on my watch but not on my phone.
HAH. I'm running 1.0.1 or whatever the current build is and I got an iMessage I sent to myself two weeks ago (I often do this to quickly send a link from my iMac at work to preview whatever I'm building on mobile devices). It didn't show up on either of my other devices—just the watch—but I'm pretty sure it did two weeks ago? It was really weird. I just attributed it to the craziness of software update day and their server traffic.
