Still bamboozles me they went for thicker phones just so they can add "wireless" charging (the worst gimmick of all gimmicks) ... the space would be much better used by a bigger battery ... iPhone Xr is a huge brick for no good reason.

Your post is kind of confusing. The iPhone XR has exceptional battery life, (Which is one of the reasons it’s thicker) anyone that owns that phone will attest to that. So even though the XR is a thicker phone, there is a -good reason- why it is thicker with the bigger battery.

Yes I think Apple should just make smaller screen iPhones and focus on senior customers and maybe teens who are not into tech and just want a simplified, reliable, easy to use phone and leave the pro/tech enthusiast and also luxury phone market to Samsung and others.
After comparing Xs Max,Xr and S10 series from Samsung and seeing horrendous recent leaks from “eye patch” iPhone 11,I really don’t expect them to impress with iPhone anymore.

That 5.24 model will be great for those who want a smaller iPhone.

I'm curious regarding those weird sizes such as 6.06... Are we going some flexible route or something?
It’s like the current devices. They are not 6.5 inch but 6.42 because of the notch.

The Xr has a low resolution, old technology LCD display, that’s the main reason why battery last longer.

I bet the iphone 5.42” will be the size of the iPhone 8 but all display. Not that small. I would love to have an updated iPhone in SE sized instead.
I have an SE, and don't want to go any bigger, only just fits comfortably in my pockets at that size.

The more recent iPhones are getting too big (for some of us at least), might as well get an iPad and get the benefit of a bigger screen.

So, I am glad Apple are adding a smaller phone back to the range.

Goodbye to Apple from me if new iPhones are oled only
Bye

Hopefully no low frequency headache inducing PWM like on the X and XS! Terrible for Apple to put out displays that cause people to not be able to use them. And Macrumors should report on this!

Apple can’t cater to literally every single person. Same thing with airpods not fitting for everyone

Finally! I literally just ditched my 3 year old SE (that came after having a 6 and not liking the size) for a Samsung S10e - still larger than I'd like but less compromises than Apple's current offerings. A lot of people want smaller phones with decent sized displays, it's the ideal use for the full-screen display and what the X should have been really - bigger screen than the 6/7/8 but smaller size.

Wireless coil charging is not a gimmick and will prove very useful to have in all phones going forward, for use cases such as car charging, charging on commercial planes, in cafés, airports and public spaces for when users may not have a charging cable handy or not want to carry one around with them. And, one less cable to break. You say gimmick, but I disagree... I believe this will prove very handy for users of smartphones going forward. As these charging spots begin to pop up everywhere this solution will feel obvious and inevitable, and handy when you’re running low.
