Still sticking with my 6S until something of significance to justify these prices in released.

Or...….they could be cancelled nearer the time...…
These are the posts that are such a beating. AirPower was an accessory that was cancelled. iPhone is the biggest product in the world and has never been cancelled.

Just because Apple made an error on a tiny unreleased product doesn’t mean the world is ending and the iPhone is now in jeopardy.

Wow, a 5.4” phone all screen would be slightly smaller than the iPhone 6/7/8 non-Plus form factor. That should make a lot of people happy. Not as small as the SE but a desirable size phone for many no doubt.
5.42-inches in 19.5:9 aspect ratio is a iPhone SE size phone

5.42 is almost exactly the same diagonal size of the iPhone SE / 5S!
Well, a 5.42” iPhone with Face ID would still be a fair bit larger than the SE. If you take the 4” iPhone screen and remove most of the top and bottom bezels to extend it to a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, you end up with a 4.7” iPhone.

Even if side bezel sizes were decreased, it’d still be a noticeably bigger phone.

Physical size vs. screen size. The diagonal of an SE is ~5", but screen much smaller because of bezel. Current models have much less bezel of course.

As long as the physical size does not exceed the size of the SE I might be in, depending on the price. I can do without the OLED screen - I'd rather buy an LCD version. Come on, it's meant to be just a communication device. I don't care much about perfect contrast and perfect colors. I'm using it to call, to whatsapp/telegram, to play my Spotify playlists and as a navigation device in my car (using the Carplay screen). Ok, also as a remote control for my Apple TV at home.

Apple will need to make sure the new iPhones are worth the price for me. If not, I might just settle for an Android. Or again a second hand iPhone.

The iPhone X is the most 'complete' phone I've had from Apple. It's about the right size, has good battery life and good features and a quality screen. It's pretty much the only one I've had that hasn't had me glancing at the new ones when they come out.
With their evolutionary approach to most things I'm not sure there will be anything from Apple to tempt me away from it for a while. Unless a competitor releases a must have phone.

Very interested in that 5.42" model!! Really hoping that turns out to be true!!

Also bummed that it isn't coming out 'til next year. I will have had my current phone for four years by that point. Ah well. Like they say -- if it works...!

Hopefully no low frequency headache inducing PWM like on the X and XS! Terrible for Apple to put out displays that cause people to not be able to use them. And Macrumors should report on this!
Never heard of this before. Do you have a reference?

Still bamboozles me they went for thicker phones just so they can add "wireless" charging (the worst gimmick of all gimmicks) ... the space would be much better used by a bigger battery ... iPhone Xr is a huge brick for no good reason.
Yeah, how did they dare to add 0.01” to the thickness of the iPhone 7 chassis when they released the iPhone 8 with wireless charging?

Or how dare they release the iPhone Xr with even an 0.04” of additional thickness and used that to offer the best battery life of any iPhone? Nobody was asking for such a change.

Be interesting to see Apples take on the no notch, high screen to body trend, but surely that will come this year? No way they are going to stick with it in its current guise beyond 2019 when the competitors have much more aesthetically pleasing solutions.
Also wondering how this is going to play out. Some competitors, namely Samsung, have far better-looking devices than Apple at this point in 2019. I'd find it ludicrous if Apple tries to sell the same basic phone from 1.5 years ago for a THIRD YEAR in a row.

But this is the company that still sold the iPhone 8 (aka - iPhone 6sss) alongside the iPhone X so I wouldn't be surprised.

All that said, I'd certainly be tempted to jump back into the Apple ecosystem with the smaller iPhone mentioned in the article. I'd consider purchasing the S10e later this year but I'm becoming increasingly more concerned about privacy issues (currently an Android user) and I know that the iPhone is about the only option if privacy is a concern.
