My bluetooth mouse disconnects occasionally and I need to go back through the setup procedure for the system to recognize it again. This happens every time I turn the mouse off or replace the batteries.
I just installed the update so I'm not sure if it fixes your problem, but if it doesn't, I may have a trick for you

When my bluetooth mouse won't connect, I just need to place the on/off lid under the mouse in a almost on position for a few seconds and then turn it on again. This usually makes my mouse connect again. If it still doesn't connect, I have to close the lid completely again and then place it in almost on position before full on. Does this make sense? It works for me at least.

Firmware updates should be more streamlined. They should be like all Software Update, quick and one-click. No need to unstuff the updater, keep in in Applications/Utilities and run it seperately. That's just BS.

I haven't noticed much difference on my BT Mouse with 1.1 so far. The firmware update one before this one was a significant update, including a new button in the BT System Preferences which read:

"Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer"

But this latest update hasn't added anything of that kind. Hope it somehow increases the battery life though, that would be the only fix I think it needs.

how exactly can i wake my computer with a bluetooth device? that option in my BT preferences is faded and non-clickable.

Just curious to see if my previous post works for you. Try clicking your mouse a few times after the light starts blinking underneath. Let me know if that works.

Is BT turned on and discoverable? Mine is actually checked.

This is beautiful! My mouse now tracks like my Apple Pro Mouse. Now I just will have to wait and see what this brings to the keyboard. Either way, I like it!

Everything singals the release of new powermacs, didn't you know that? :p

I'm sure the coffee left at the bottom of my mug is pointing towards 9 am tomorrow morning. Who knows, the coffee bean industry may hold all the answers!

iChat

iChat updates too :) the mouse didn't show up for me and i have a Apple BT mouse

so did this update bring a second (third?) mouse button and scroll wheel yet? :D ;)

these "announcements" have me feeling okay that i never bought stock in apple.

$20 this update is for next weeks powermacs (and their fantastic new aluminum peripherals, including a THREE button BT mouse!) :D

I turn mine off every night after work. When I startup in the morning, I open my PB, and login. Then I turn on the mouse. If you'll watch, the red light will start blinking. Click the mouse a few times and it should take off. I had the same problem until I discovered this. Same goes for the keyboard. Hit a few keys and it will fire up quickly.

Hey, that works -- thanks!

So now I'm wondering why I can't pair the mouse to more than one Mac. Do I have to un-pair it from one system before I can pair it up with another within range of the first one? I get a "pairing failed" notice.

I believe only one pairing is allowed, since there is no way of instructing the mouse to communicate via one pairing versus another.

What we need is a Bluetooth KVM. One BT keyboard and mouse can control several different systems.

Yup, your method works as well and, frankly, is much better than mine :D

Also, the battery meter has been updated in Sys Prefs. I hope this isn't going to be like the iPod battery meter and go loco on us.

10.3.3 updated the battery meter, not the firmware update. I think the new battery meter is absolutely ugly as can be.

iChatAV 2.1 final released today aswell :)

I haven't installed the keyboard update yet, but will and report back.

Yeah I just noticed that as well. I kinda liked the old way better but at least this one is showing that I have more battery left in mine :p

I agree. All other meters in 10.3 are the blue flowing kind. This blocky green thing is like a mucous meter.

Yesterday I ran out of bateries in mu mouse in the middle of a production. The warning came up just 3 minutes before! they can give me at list 2 days in advance :(

Couldn't agree with you more. It's so damn ugly. And it turns amber and then red. Puke...

man, you know it's a pretty slow day when xserve shipment and peripheral firmware updates are the highlights of a tuesday...

That makes sense, now that I think about it. I'm new to the Many Wonders of Bluetooth™.

Occasionally my wireless keyboard would go crazy like it had a couple of stuck keys, and switching it off and then back on helped. It's only happened a few times (3 or 4 since Christmas), but hopefully this update will help. If I remember correctly, it would happen just after waking up, after the first couple of keystrokes. Anyone else have this problem?

The update has improved the accuracy of my Apple Bluetooth mouse. If I tried to move in a straight line it would jump to the side. Now the problem is much reduced. I suspect the problem is (was) the surface of the desk, as when I used it elsewhere the problem did not appear.

Wireless keyboards are a great idea, however Apple's mice are WORTHLESS! It's truly unbelievable that they don't use a two button mouse w/scroll wheel. It's embarrassing really. I have a box of unused mice that came with every mac I have purchased.

Never happened until I was asked to enter my admin password to install firmware. System started typing random characters like crazy in password box and beeping like crazy. Microsoft wireless mouse (RF) also acted a bit weird. Could that be the problem? Forced quit and had to restart. Repairing permissions now. All OK there. Think I won't try this again tonight.
