That is kinda what I was thinking; there is a refurb 13' retina pro for the same price as the 2014 air in my specs; perhaps they would replace it with that since it is the same price

How about this: replace it yourself. As dfausty suggests, get the refund, then go place an order for that refurb MBP. That way you don't have to wait around for Apple to do it for you.

Then we'll see what issues you find with that one.

let say if i have a pro and want the replacement to be a MacBook Air and they are both the same price will apple care allow me to get the air.

I never heard of this happening nor have i heard about what OP is talking about with his entitlement

i have a MacBook Pro 2012 that had 3 display replacement so far. Applecare has informed me that I am allowed to get a replacement. I wanted to know whether it is possible to get the MacBook Air instead of the MacBook Pro 2012 since they are both in the same price range.

Generally, you are limited to the same product line.

I am honestly amazed at how your "problem" and this thread could have dragged out for as long as it did.

Seriously, if I had a customer like you, I would just refund you your money and bar you from buying any more of my products. 3 screen replacements for a laptop? You are like one of those customers in a restaurant who nitpicks everything with his order in a restaurant, from the plain water not being warm enough to the cutlery being too heavy.

First off one issue okay, two issues ehhh maybe, but three issues that just happen to be the same? I don't think so. No one else has had any report of the same issue if so not having it happen 3 times. It sounds to me and to other people you want there to be something wrong so apple gives you a better macbook for the same price you paid. Next time don't set yourself up to get blasted like this. it makes you look ignorant.

The only problem I ever had was when Apple really damaged my MacBook. Even then I did not demand a replacement just a repair.

I also had 2 logic board replacement, trackpad replacement, hard drive replacement, and 2 other replacement the screen wasn't the only thing I had replaced.

Apple flipped my machine over and had the bottom part slam down on the top which broke my snap on case, hard drive damage, bent hinge, and also misaligned the lid. I have a feeling more was replaced then I knew about.

These are the type people I get behind at the grocery check out line. They question everything they ring up and when the time comes for payment they either spend half an hour trying to find those extra pennies in the bottom of their purse or their snap card has no funds for purchases.

This person must not be too bright.

If the product fails that many times and you are that upset they won't give you a macbook pro then maybe you shouldn't buy apple laptops.

But this is my third Air. If Apple really wants to solve the issue, how many faulty Airs do i have to get as replacements? Eventually if they really want to fix the issue they will have to replace it with a pro, or else all I'll get is Airs with the same issue.

No you're not entitled to a Pro because you have faulty "airs" what can do is get refund and put money on top towards a pro or whatever computer you may want

You just can't please some people

The replacement is the exact model you have. no ifs ands or buts. They will never replace A with B, unless they have zero stock (ie. iPhone 3G with 3GS)

Even if you offer to pay more, I highly doubt you will get a MBP

The only way I would see is if you ask for a refund - but in this case that is probably not likely since you have been through so many repairs.

Why not ask those who offered to give you a replacement, you know, AppleCare?

I'll find out later today what they are going to do.

So what happened OP?

i just don't understand how 1 person can have so many issues right after the next, even with new machines, yet, i've gone through several apple products over the years and never had an issue.

oh wait, my first iPhone 3g had a hair under the screen, so apple replaced the phone.
