I still don't think it is a problem with every phone. It might just be a software or sim card issue. I've yet to have an issue with mine...and I've tested it by doing what apparently everyone was doing when the calls were dropped. I tried holding it the way you "aren't" supposed to...full bars or normal reception for the area I was in at the time.

You're wrong it is a problem with every phone, and Apple has come close to admitting this (time will tell). The issue does seem reduced for me depending on location, but definitely at home if I just hold it naturally in my left hand like I would to normally enter text or use the phone, it is a fail.

I am currently on hold, spoke to the first guy, he said the reception is an issue and to cover it up or use a bumper. I advised i have a bumper and still get bar drops, currently waiting for a senior supervisor. At least their hold music is entertaining as opposed to some of that 70's porn theme crap.

Got the supervisor, basically told to hold it away from the corners and keep trying the bumper. She did say that they were told this morning to try the bumper, keep hands away solution but that to keep my eyes out for solutions in the near future. She also mentioned that any website other than Apple.com is not a reliable source of information as she got bombarded with requests for free bumpers..lol

Ah well, wait and see.

it is/isn't a software problem if your hand wouldn't cover the antenna then there wouldn't have to be a fix, let me explain:

if your covering the antennas then the antenna needs more power to "connect" or whatever u want to call it. the antenna also needs to switch frequencies and the phone does not do it quickly enough to counteract the hand bridging the antennas.

this can be fixed but at the coast of battery life. for some this might suck, but if the antenna wasn't getting disturbed by your hand then there wouldn't be a need for this. it is easier to fix it at the coast of battery life than to do a full recall.
