Can Apple also work on introducing the following colors in MacBook Air 15”, please. 🌈🙏🏻

My money says that if they did multi-color like the iMac, it'll be the "smaller" MacBook instead. I wouldn't mind being wrong, but I doubt they'll give the larger one colors where the new m2 Air does not have them. We can wish though, eh?

Apple actually tried this a few years ago. I wonder what made them change that.
SKU’s and to many models.

The naming scheme is convoluted. I’d like to see Apple just consolidate to what that poster said that you replied to and make it more straightforward and streamlined.

Hey guys! Checked my post again. Nowhere does it say those two apps define whether the iPad Pro is "Pro". Point is, when Apple themselves don't even include their own pro apps, it's sad.
iPadOS never made any sense for some of the pro apps.

Now that iPad Pros with iPadOS have 16 GB RAM, virtual memory swap, proper multitasking with Stage Manager, and proper external screen support, it might just make sense to port over or rewrite those applications for iPadOS.

So, a 14 inch iPad Pro (plugged in to an external monitor) becomes my desktop and a 12 inch MacBook becomes my portable device. Topsy turvy world!

"They seriously need to stop calling the iPad Pro a "pro" device, when they don't even offer Logic or FCP on it" means your post says exactly what we argue against.

I understand your pain, but the iPad is plenty Pro without those two Apple-made apps, hence the name.

That said, the Pro designation has never implied the device are limited for professional use. It's just a word after all.

Folks have been hoping for those two and XCode to be put on the iPad forever.

And Apple should; I actually think they will.

I believe they've just been busy paving the hardware and platform-software road.

Hmm is that why the new MBA doesn’t say “MacBook Air” anywhere on the product? Maybe they’re planning on re-naming it “MacBook”…
It should be called “MacBook” of course, but since the “MacBook Air” is such a well-known and best-selling brand, I’m sure that’s why the marketing team decided to go with ”Air.” Basically, MacBook doesn’t sound as cool ;)

Man I love you Apple Silicon. Ever since the transition we've been getting nothing but amazing Macs, including a new product line with the Mac Studio that's absolutely genius. Can't wait to see these new machines in action

The one Mac I wanna see them make though now that we're on Apple Silicon moving into M2 though, two words: Macbook. SE. Make it happen Tim.
Absolutely. Bring back the MacBook 12” (as this post claims they are doing) but keep the wedge shape and call it the MacBook Air SE. 2 pounds, thinnest MB ever.

it's fascinating that there are people here with a 16" macbook pro m1 max that want to buy a 15" macbook air. bro.

12" MacBook is one of the best computers they ever built imo. Can't wait to get that form factor back! 2 pounds. You could bring it with you anywhere without a second though. Nothing has come close to that since.

Yes please. Add to that the Apple Silicon instant wake from sleep, low operating temperature, and incredible battery life and we’re looking at a dream machine.

One Thunderbolt port on each side would make it absolutely perfect.

I realize other "pro" apps are on there. What you're missing is that I don't think even Apple thinks of it it as a pro device. Nor do I think pro designation relegates it to pro-only use. It is indeed just a dumb word to use for a device. Always has been.

My prediction (2024 line-up):

12-inch MacBook M2/8/256 $999
13-inch MacBook Air M3/8/256 $1199
15-inch MacBook Air M3/8/256 $1399
14-inch MacBook Pro M3 Pro/16/512 $1999

Pretty much. Can they be used in a professional capacity, given that "professional" is a broad term? Sure, obviously. Pretty much any computer can be used as such.

Yup!

I know a very much professional writer who does everything -- all of it -- on a base model two generation old iPad w/ BT keyboard

M1 Max maybe but there are lots of people who's priority is screen size and have no other options than the 16". An MBA 15" has always been desired but I never thought Apple would go for it for fear of cannibalizing the 16" MBP sales. It'll sell well.

this naming scheme is so dumb. just make a MacBook and a MacBook Pro and offer different levels of each...
That’s exactly what they are doing? It’s just any Macbook that is not a Pro is now an Air. I think that’s pretty straightforward. And maybe even, at this point in their history, the naming is the most simple and scheme-less it has ever been.
