The article said Apple's been working on it since before the Echo was even released. As usual, Apple takes the time to get the product right and then releases it. When I tried an Echo, I was unimpressed. I hope to be impressed by another Apple product.

Apple can't "get it right" unless Siri dramatically improves. As of right now Siri is still 2011 in 2016. That's not good.

Great? What is Siri great at? Setting at a timer?
I said they already have a great voice assistant DEVICE, not a great voice assistant. They dont need a seperate voice assistant device like Amazon's Echo because everyone already carries a voice assistant device in their pocket: their iPhone.

I never have my iPhone with me at home, in fact I leave it in my jacket or bag and I completely forget about it for hours.
I don't have a Watch yet, but I think I'd keep it on my wrist at home and put it in charge only at night, so that could be my primary interaction with Siri at home.

I can unambiguously say Apple is the ONLY manufacturer of such a product that I would trust to listen to everything going on in my home 24/7. The others are simply not trustworthy.
You maybe need to read some of apples T&Cs a little more carefully.. it may surprise you.

I don't care who's idea this was first but Apple selling a Siri version of such a device that works with home-kit devices is pure genius and i will be one of those day one buyers.
Pure genius? Lol, pure blatant copying after they have soooooooo run out of their own ideas... jobs would be mortified at this new Apple.

Who cares who does something FIRST!?
It's WHO does it BEST!
Like when Samsung introduced the first galaxy phone and all the ifans for their knickers in a twist. Hang on, is that not the same, samsung copy, but Apple get it right, after copying. Correct me if I've misunderstood how it works on MR

Jobs would have a problem with copying, according to you?

I wouldn't have to. I could talk to it across the room. You know, by like using your voice. Crazy stuff right?
Right. So then naturally the same concept would apply with iPhone sitting across the room. 'Hey Siri' works whether you're holding the phone or not. Obviously the mic would need to be enhanced to pick up voice from across the room.

really couldn't care less who's idea it was and apparently no other companies in the world do either, so whatever... delivering a product that is useful and works well is all i care about.
