This will easily be over $2k for the basic model. Over $3k with a decent stand and nano-texture.
Last time I checked a couple of mini-LED displays status this was discussed in 2022 and 2023. Example https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...id-to-launch-in-october.2345315/post-31113170

So yes
Back in 2023, Young claimed that Apple had been working on a Studio Display Pro with ProMotion technology, but Apple allegedly canceled the project. Young at the time said that Apple wasn't working on another 27-inch display, but Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has maintained that Apple plans to launch some kind of display in 2025.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has confirmed the rumor of Apple's work on a 27-inch mini-LED display, and he believes that it will be coming in 2026.

So this just speculation that been stated for last 3 years not a valid rumor, but Gurman and Young bringing it up again and again as a thought. Just consider it never happening.

just make it thicker, add M5 and I'm on the moon! :D

anyway, so ASD been on the market for quite a while. Do we finally have some good alternatives?
Criteria: 1. great accurate colors for photo editing, 2. minimal bezels, so I don't see the ugly branding for others. 3. up to 27", since I work in the attic and don't have space for 30"+ screen..

oh, and I guess this new ASD is coming out in 2-3 years, right?

Why this 27-inch format again...
Can't they do maybe a 21:9 ultrawide or something a bit different or at least bigger?

Oddly enough, I have found myself going back to a single 27" monitor. It really has increased my productivity.

It seems like you need 120Hz minimum and 32" to be competitive. You can get a 32" 21:9 or 35" ultra wide for under $400 that has 120Hz or more. Apple is digging in their heals on refresh too... they know most people will buy it regardless so why spend the money and decrease profit margin.

Honestly, any comparison to the displays you just need isn't even in the same ballpark. They are apple to demand this price because, until very recently, there was literally zero competition.

I wish I had thought to tell you earlier - I recently tried plugging mine into my iPhone 15 and IT JUST WORKS. I was kinda floored - you can plug in same as my iPad. Now you know.

I bought it for $1K on a photo forum that I frequent. It's like-new and came in the Apple box.

Main ergonomic problem with the current design is that it sits too high, and the height-adjustable version only goes higher ... and doesn't go lower. If they fix that, I'll buy 2. And I much prefer having 2 x 27 inch than 1 x 30 inch.

Studio display does 2 out of three. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the brightness without a keyboard.

There are three UBC Ports running quickly if you have at least an M1 Mac or better.

Hell, if you hooked up a Macbook Pro, you'd have 3 USB TB 4/5, 3 USCB C (I think 10 gb speeds) an HDMI and SD card reader.

What additional connectivity do you need? Assuming you use one TB port on the Mac, that gives you 5 other ports, HDMI and an SD card slot reader.
It’s not USB-C ports, but additional vídeo inputs what is missing.

Also, it’s not a keyboard you need to change settimgs, but a Mac.

Finally, height is not adjustable unless you but the crazy expensive optional stand. So that’s 0 out of 3.

it's why something like 99% of the setups you see out there for owners are almost always 1 Studio Display and sometimes you see two.....and then you get the ultra rare 3 setup yet Apple marketing shows off 2-3 monitor setups quite often.

Three 5K is nice, three 6K would be nicer, but for affordability, nothing like a 57" Samsung 8K2K on the market. Unfortunately, not built out of 5K panels, but cheaper than one Apple Studio Display.

Affordable?!?!?! They jack you up for that monitor then bend you over if you want basic stand options like up and down!.... Have a look around at comparison pricing in the marketplace and you’ll quickly realize why you are walking so funny and why it’s so painful to sit down in front of your new rig.
Others in the marketplace make wobbly and creaky plastic displays, so they don't count.

My heavy 57" Samsung, according to some, should not even be placed face down on a desk ever (use the curved polystyrene from the box for support) or the display or plastic frame can crack. It feels very delicate. A previous monitor, an 30" Apple aluminum, lasted 15 years or so and was moved around from office to home. I don't think the 57" Samsung can survive that kind of treatment. A 57" curved Samsung with an aluminum frame would cost another thousand more easily.

Nope...Apple doesn't recognize the PC market

I run my gaming machine on my ASD. It was annoying to get set up but with a properly set up Thunderbolt situation I can unplug my work laptop and plug in my PC and game at 1440p.

I bought a Studio Display this year during one of the times Amazon had it for a bit of a discount. I had previously debated getting a 42" OLED TV, but since I do more work than gaming the Studio Display seemed like the wiser choice.

I would love any or all of the things for an updated display to be true:
  • Ability to daisy-chain 2 display to use only one connection to a Mac (I suppose this would probably require hardware with Thunderbolt 5)
  • Removable power cord, magnetic connection or something like the iMac currently has?
  • Have the stand be VESA compatible so that it can be easily removed or changed without having to pick a specific model at purchase
  • Upgraded camera
  • Ethernet port on the back (yes I know you can use USB-C adapters but I haven't had great luck getting full speed with various options)
  • Have more than one size option; I know many people ask for a 32 inch 6k screen, but a 24 inch 4.5k option using the same display as the iMac would be great as a secondary screen. I currently use an LG 23.5 inch 4k Ultrafine (which was discontinued) as a secondary screen and it would be much nicer to have an Apple model to match my Studio Display.
I honestly don't care about 120Hz although it seems like a vocal percentage like to complain about that. (And if it is part of a new model they will then complain that you need hardware with Thunderbolt 5 to accommodate the bandwidth.)
