Yes and no.Mira a single wheel, if it’s a hover board, in order to keep it upright. $999.Since it’s smaller, can it have a unicycle wheel to save on costs?
Yeah, I don't understand those that think the current Mac Pro will be 'obsolete' or not usable. If you're buying this class of computer, it's because of the high likelihood it is to generate income. As someone who has invested in this system, I don't regret it at all and it has already paid itself off in the first few jobs I've used it on. And it should perform for many, many years to come, so it's worked out to be a good investment.dont feel bad, that mac will work perfectly for them for another 3 years
And remember, while this is still under R&D and it will be next year also, those people who already bought that mac year ago, are making money with no issues
Yes, Apple has been using x86 in their iPhones and iPads all along...I feel bad for the people who buy the first rev of a new architecture.
I think it's because Apple is the one that controls the GPU driver, so AMD never lists MacOS compatibility on their site, from my understanding.Be awesome if AMD listed that. Thank you, you made my day!
Ah, they can finally bring back the trash can mac pro since they will control both CPU and GPU...
They will almost certainly be able to upgrade to apple silicon if they so wishI feel bad for the people that dropped over 50K for one of the Intel models.
What outdated? Aren't there a zillion of posts here from people who claim they absolutely need to run their x86 Docker containers, audio plugins, and x86 Windows games on a super-multi-core Mac? If it's the last x86 Mac Pro, it will never be superseded (by Apple) for native x86 use. Thus never outdated (until vintage).Theo why release the current one? People have spent thousands of dollars just to have na outdated machine in one year time.
is it the Mac Pro mini
or the Mac mini Pro?
True but you could get the base model and add RAM, drives, GPU, etc from an older Mac Pro that was upgraded or third party and get a solid machine for a fraction. i’m not talking a fully loaded machine as most of us don’t need a loaded Mac Pro. The base model 2019 Mac Pro is three times the price of the older base models mostly for AfterBurner support and a logic board that is custom to support high end film production, etc. A simple tower as before without be perfect. Think mid-tower system with a standard logic board and internal drive support and upgradable third party RAM, GPU.
Well that level of performance is obviously going to be at the far end of the 2 year transition. But yeah. It's gonna be cool.I’m extremely curious to see what an ARM/Apple chip is capable of if it’s competing against the top Xeon and Epyc chips.
Why? Presumably if they dropped that kind of coin it was because they expected to make it back by using the machine.I feel bad for the people that dropped over 50K for one of the Intel models.
Those weren't people. Those were large companies with huge budgets.I feel bad for the people that dropped over 50K for one of the Intel models. Howabout companies who drop $80k on a truck only to be re-designed a couple years later?
Nobody said it’s a replacement for the mac pro. They could sell both at the same time.Third redesign in a row with no updates in between? Great job, Apple.
I really don't know where their heads are at with the Macs these days. Why can't they make a modular desktop with internal expansion capabilities (drive bays, PCI slots, and memory) and a CHOICE OF GRAPHICS CARD VENDOR that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? Seriously, $6k for a nearly empty chassis??
The Mac Pro used to be a be-all-do-all machine. An enthusiast could get one for an attainable amount ($2500 to $3k for a mid-range, anyone?) and know they could upgrade a component in a couple years to keep it relevant, while a pro (or a rich person) could configure one out the wazoo and have the fastest computer in their county for the next six months. Further, they could be configured for any use case -- gaming, music production, video production, 3D rendering, high performance CPU, or any combo of those. Now, unless you are a video pro, forget it, there are much more cost-effective options on the PC side.
And the iMac (pro or regular)? Not an option. 1/3 of the cost of those machines is the expensive screen that is going to get thrown away in three years because the other components are obsolete.
So frustrating. This is why I haven't updated since my cMP 4,1 (flashed and CPU upgraded).
