If you're saying we don't get the point of the iPad, let's throw it back at you. Besides the pen, what can the iPad do in 2016 that the iPad 4 couldn't do in 2012? I would say 4 years of nothing is stagnations. They've changed the screen size, given you more CPU/GPU by passing on someone else's improved semiconductor fab capability. They've increased their margin by not passing on larger flash chips.

Anecdotally, I work in criminal court, in the past about 80% of defence lawyers have used macbooks (and 20% windows). I've been here since before the iPad (or iPhone) existed, and nobody has ever used an iPad that I've seen. Today it's about 60% surfaces, 20% macbooks, and 20% other windows laptops. Still never an iPad.
