Sorry no they did not... EVERY set of high end headphones comes with at least one 3.5mm plug (default) along with 1/4" and possibly a balanced cable. The headphone amps have corresponding plugs.
[doublepost=1470411458][/doublepost]

Oh but it is to the zealots.

An iPhone will drive very few high-end headphones . I assume you mean 3.5mm into amp?

I'm sorry which EVERY set of high end headphones corns with at least 3.5mm? You are just taking in ears right ?

It could be just that our usage patterns are different

I believe out definition of high end is not the same . Feel free to name a few models, that will clarify.

Even when they used to use iPods, lods were used for best results.

If you want the best audio setup, you are not using 3.5mm out of an iPhone. You get a DAC/amp attached to the iPhone .

Still sounds dreadful. I thought that maybe they'd invent something better than BT. Does this do anything to alleviate the delay all Bluetooth devices have? Will it not have the weird shuffle bugs I've experienced with car BT syncing? Do they expect to drastically improve on that amazingly terrible 4-hour battery life mentioned in the article?

Perhaps Apple will impress us with a good product this fall, but so far there are zero rumors pointing to it.
I get a horrible audio delay in our car. this only seem to be with music. It works fine for calls. Only other place I've tried Bluetooth music was with some jaybirds in the gym. The delay wasn't bad (didn't notice any) but I disliked then for other reasons. In unsure what the reason behind this delay is but the car is terrible. I've also had times that music seems to try and "catch up" and it sounds like in scrubbing forward by holding down the fast forward button. I generally just plug in when I remember to.

You are correct about this.

BT isn't that great. I have yet to find a pair that I like.

Lightening adapters are crap so far. I mean come on, who wants of these sticking out from their iPhone?

Or one of these....

That's just bull***t. That part can easily break when in your pocket. Yes a headphone plug already sticks out, but if you have one of those adapters it just adds extra length.

Now having both a 3.5mm AND Lightening (at least for one or two revisions of the iPhone) is a different story. At least there's an option so people can make the transition smoothly and allow that technology to become more of a standard.

So you've heard a pair of BT 5 headphones? And they're no good still? That's too bad.

As for adapters ... I wouldn't have one. I'd buy a new pair of Lightning headphones I liked if I didn't want to go BT. In fact, I'd probably buy a new pair of BT headphones just to have them, and make sure they have a digital/analogue port that can can output whatever signal I need depending on what cable I attache to it. In fact, I'd probably buy a third party cable, assuming Apple won't make one, that has a hybrid connector providing connectivity to anything I might encounter if that was a concern for me.

Or maybe I would just buy an adapter to use with my old headphones. Neither of those look too bad. But I'd prefer one with a right angle connector, like high end headphones, that allowed me to charge via a pass through port when connected, as well alleviate the strain of the cord, and avoid accidents from the plug sticking out too far. If I'm already carrying a wad of plastic cable in my pants pocket that has to be untangled overtime to use it anyway, I don't see a single problem with adding an adapter like these into the mix, especially if they add functionality to my old headphones as the bottom one appears to do -- maybe even turns them into a headset for making calls!

Thanks for making this sound so appealing!

And thank god I will never have to plug and unplug two different wires into my iPhone again when I use it in my car.

"Lame duck?" You do realize that around 70 million people will have bought the iPhone 7 by the end of the Christmas season? Remember that the doomsayers on MR who troll everything that Apple does are an infinitesimally small percentage of phone buyers.

I just look at the product and buy it if I like it. I spoke with my wallet with Apple Watch, just like many around the world. Apple sales are down India and China, but I'll wait till September to make a decision.

Something tells me Apple stocks will be down once again after Apple shows there is something wrong with it's innovation in Sept.

At this point, I think it's likely the jack is gone with all the leaks/rumors. If Apple can bundle a pair of high quality Bluetooth EarPods along side the iPhone 7, by all means, count me in on the preorder with my iPhone 7.
Reality check: Apple will NOT bundle BT headphones with the iPhone 7. And neither should they. Would jack up the price for something many people won't want or need. They will be for sale at the Apple Store.

Lightning up, Francis. I use the Jaybird X2 BT headphones and they are fantastic. As far as the adapter, it's fine. Deal.

Although the Apple Pencil's solution to charging is hardly elegant, I find it to be amazingly convenient.

Hopefully, Apple earbuds are similar to the Jaybird X2 but with the ability to plug into an iPhone or iPad for a quick charge (15 seconds for 30 min use). That would be great
The Jaybird X2s are fantastic, and I've never experienced any connection issues in 6 months. Anyone doubting that BT can work well should check them out. Game changers.

I think my sense of reality is greater than yours, because I said IF Apple could bundle a pair of Bluetooth headphones along side the iPhone 7, I never said they should include them in the box or they have to include them.

And if Apple did include them and jack the price up as you said, some of us have expendable income, because I would purchase them if they were bundled or not, as some would WANT them, as I believe you stated many would not want them. I would be interested in your statistics for 'Many.'

I'm glad you can speak for the Majority. When and IF Apple releases a pair of high quality Bluetooth EarPods, I will get back to you and let you know how the minority enjoyed them.

Good for you.m buddy. What works for you may not work for me. Until I find a set that I like, I'll stick with my Shure SRH-940's

Well said. The Forum member your referring to apparently thinks they have all the answers to everything, when their is a little thing called 'User Preference.'

If the stock drops, Tim's job should be on the line immediately. Along with a few others. The powers to be should be wise enough to remove him from position and boot him from the company to turn things around. It would be a huge mistake to keep him off the hook for another year. Tim can't go back to his old position because he promoted Williams to COO.

I know it sounds harsh but with the way things are going, they need new blood in the executive level.

Who do you have in mind as his replacement? Jobs ran the shop as a mercurial dictator. Since then, his minions have been asked to fill his shoes. Quite a turnaround watching followers struggle to become leaders.

It would have to be Craig Federighi or someone from the outside. None of the execs have the 'it' factor. And definitely NOT Forstall. Not many execs got along with him.

It has to be someone with drive, vision and the balls to keep Jony in check, to put him in his place or replace him for a fresh start.

From the little I know about Forstall, he is the closest to Jobs in temperament. I wouldn't mind about the lack of harmony among the execs if it would signal an end to the low-rent GUIs we have been saddled with since Jony got promoted above his competence.

It's true that Forstall had the temperament but lacks in other things. He will never go near Apple as long as Cook, Jony and Cue are still there. In fact, there's always someone else who's probably more qualified than Forstall. He was asked to resign but he refused to play the patsy and got fired instead. That's how bad it is. I'm not a big fan on how he presented himself on the keynotes in the past.

I also think Schiller is part of the marketing problem as well. And Williams whom I'm very suspicious of who might have been promoted to COO to continue the " Cook Agenda ".

The board needs to clean house. Somehow. And fast.

I agree completely about the Jaybird X2. I think the sound quality is great. I hope Apple dropping the 3.5 mm port will drive companies to create better & more affordable BT headphones. Bluetooth 5 is just around the corner as well so that will be even better

Check the price on the current bluetooth buds and keep imagining Apple would bundle something like that without a serious price hike. Or maybe the 256GB iPhone 6S+SE++Pro or whatever it will be called with the BT buds will be $1500 - oh but it's ok, it's Apple. And those buds are all you can ever dream of with the 4h battery life. At least they look nice on your desk in the charger. Or maybe not.

Right. Thats why I stated 'Along side' the iPhone 7. Which will most likely be available on the Apple Store. And even so, a lot of people have expendable income.

I sure hope so. The future is wireless, but they have to be better than what's out there now.

Yes, future is wireless. Sadly this is not the future. This is the present and currently you either pay about as much as you would for your phone to get a decent set or deal with nonexistant battery life and/or reception.
[doublepost=1470843963][/doublepost]
Since when is Apple concerned with battery life... ??

Oh, but they are. Anything they can do to reduce it is considered an improvement. ;)
[doublepost=1470844406][/doublepost]
Let it go already. Lightning ear plugs will work fine and so will your precious 3.5 headphones.

It's like you people are a religion or something. Nothing changes, Apple is just offering sane people another/better solution. You can keep your old plugs. No one is coming to your house to take them from anyone.
People need to chill or sober up.
That goofball from The Verge. Nily Patel is head moron on this.

Look who's talking? Let it go already. Many people have bought excellent headphones with 3,5mm plugs and they're reluctant to switch those to useless pieces of plastic you need to charge 6 hours out of 10 to be able to use them for the remaining 4. Lightning connected headphones will work fine for those who are willing to purchase even more useless crap you can use with a _SINGLE DEVICE_. Before you start going on about adapters, stick one in your phone and put it in your pocket and sit down. Feel free to answer after you've sent your phone for repairs.

My current hope is that my 6+ will stay operational for many, many years. I don't want to start learning android at this point and 6S+ doesn't give me any improvements over this one. I use real cameras for any more serious photography and I've yet to see any real use for Touch 3D. Battery life is just as nonexistant on that one as it is on 6+. And the new one will apparently be even worse. Yay.

I'm skeptical about the success of these, not because of the wireless Bluetooth part, but because of the history of their earbuds/earpods being uncomfortable to wear and terrible sound quality. At least that's been my experience wearing them. I no longer even take them out of the box when I get a new iPhone, and use third-party earbuds and headphones instead that I like.
"The way it works at Apple is if it doesn't work 100%, it gets cut,"
Doesn't seem like that was the case with Apple Maps....

When people don't like what they want to hear they make it out like I'm the one starting something.

Dont worry time erases all ill conceived comments likes yours.

When I said Apple would eventually have to make larger phones boy was I called a troll by people like you quoting others opinions.

The Day SJ said the OG iPad was the only size you'll ever need, I said Apple would have to eat crow and make a smaller one soon.
Again people like you jumped up and down and called the mods to ask i stop trolling.

All I've ever said is your opinions are invalid, and you people go bananas.
I always try and keep my posts at least a little bit humorous. I think it was my mocking tone is what irritated the heck out of some.

Let's just wait until September. I won't say another thing on the topic I promise. Time will do it for me.
Always does.
