The self entitlement you perceive yourself to have is both inane and laughable. I'm glad Apple skimped out on the parts as it costs less to build and you'll still flock to it.

Apple, keeping AAPL shareholders proud since 2001! :D

Paying good hard-earned money for what you're buying is now laughable self entitlement? Is AAPL doing me a favor here? All i do is express a little disappointment over what the product was made out to be in the keynote, and what it actually is turning out to be and people think I'm being a troll.
Expressing your views about the product is what this forum is for, isn't it? If you check my post history I was heavily defending against any criticism about the new touch before this detail about the RAM came out.

And this thread I made ages ago
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1005603/
shows that RAM was a big concern for me while everything else was not.

if you can live with inferior specs that is fine with you but everyone is not you.
And yet you admit you have no real experience with how iOS handles multitasking, you've had bad experiences with how other mobile OSs handle multitasking, and you've somehow "coming to the conclusion" (read: you're guessing) that the specs for this device are inferior and you're going to have a bad experience...

... when basically every professional review of the product says otherwise.

Buy it, see how you like it, and if you don't like it, return it.

I'm running an iPhone 3GS with the SAME amount of RAM as this stupid new iPod touch (that's not going to be running even half of the phone related background processes that use RAM), and you know what? RAM is not an issue that affects the performance. Why? Because Apple severely limits multitasking of 3rd party apps -- the number one user of RAM. How can you be so "up to date" on what specs are inferior or not and not do a little research into how the OS handles RAM??? I mean, how can you be so opinionated on the matter without having done that?

Thing is I have never used an ipod touch or iphone before. But i have had tons of memory problems in phones and computers. That is why I'm worried. Lack of memory just makes me paranoid since then.

This discussion is useless because you assume bad performance without having actually used an iOS device.

Go into an Apple Store and play with an iPod touch or iPhone for 20 min. Or borrow a 4th/3rd gen iPt from a friend (older generations are noticeably slower).

Without bothering to take the time to correct each of your grammar mistakes, I have to say that going so far to describe the RAM shortage as "heartbreaking" is a little overboard. Sure it's not ideal, but it's still a great product.
C'mon, back off with the english teacher fantasy of yours. People are NOT here to write essays. This is the internet, not an english term paper. :p

Thank you. They think people are inferior just because they do not care enough to dot their is and cross their ts.

Well now that I'm understanding how this iOS works with its memory, I guess i will check it out. Thanks for your input, even the negative ones. Really appreciate it.

WRONG. The freezing you refer to is the same. The app remains in RAM and still occupies the portion of it, it just doesn't quit unless the OS quits it or you do.
Exactly.

iOS "freezes" the application, so it doesn't just aimlessly run in the background- thus depleting precious battery life and taking up memory that could be used for the foreground application.

By freezing the application, iOS doesn't use as much RAM while it sits in the background, as compared to it running idle continuously.

You need to understand that the iPhone is a $700 device, while the iPod touch is a $230 device. When you cut the price in half, you can't have the same product. If you'd like to have an iPhone, then buy an iPhone. But the iPod touch is an iPod, not an iPhone.
