The thing i see with Apple these days is this:
they used to be different because the machines were PPC based, Moto G4's and IBM G5's, back in the day there was a buzz around which was better x86 or PPC coupled with OSX being early and seeing yearly releases with speed + massive feature bumps this has flattened off.
A lot of people, including me, bought into the idea of this different thinking.
I think it was right for Apple, as a company, to move to Intel, but IMO they are still marketing the machines as something different when they are basically the same as the <insert brand name> PC sat next to them, (except of course the design and OS).
For some people the pretty looking OS alone is enough to sell these machines, but a lot of people feel the original user base (pro whatevers) have been left out in the cold after being the main target for Apple.
Now we have a different Apple and they have a new baby, the iPhone. Personally i'm not a fan of the iPhone at all... i've tried it and didn't like it. Because really, I personally see it as a exploitation of impulse buying (app store, itunes store).
