Jatku, just my thoughts here... I'd grab a brand new MBP right now - today! And not gamble on the new model date. A bird in the hand, you know the old moral. You're already being offered a great option, so don't blow it by trying to maximize your good fortune, just in case they fix your old machine, and just give that back to you... which would be what most reasonable folks would accept as decent extended warranty care.

Great story though. I'm definitely getting applecare asap for my MBP.

I'm just updating the situation, if anyone really cares.

Well I opted to gamble a bit for the new MBP release...

and they're letting me get the updated version for $50 dollars!! It may have been $100, and they took off $50 for the 250gb 7200 hard drive. So $50 for the computer, and $400 to upgrade to the 2.53ghz configuration.

Jennifer, the woman that helped me, was really nice and helpful in every way. Hopefully you guys get the same treatment and luck if you have to speak to them. And thanks to any Apple employees (if you're reading this) for dealing with me, because I know I got annoying when I spoke to some of you.
