AppleCare: licence to print money?

Ok, but you're paying $50 or $70 upfront for something that may not happen. Why do that when you can just pay that for when it happens?

You're also getting covered in case it gets destroyed. Two accidental claims plus giving you year 2 manufacturer's warranty (plus full support for the two years, from 90 days).

I always tell first-time Apple buyers to always buy AppleCare, because if you don't, Apple doesn't.

Ha! I think there's something to that. I have had AppleCare since I have been buying Apple products, and I've used it three times--once for an iBook (remember those) when the inverter board went bad; once for an iMac; and once when I dunked my iPhone 5 in water (there was a replacement fee involved, but much less than it would have been without AppleCare). In all cases, I got good service, I would say top-notch.
