I got a secret to tell, in most European counties you don't need AppleCare, you are already covered by the standard 2 years, and sometimes more, warranty.

As in, you're being scammed.

Just a couple of weeks ago I had a Nest thermostat fail on me, bought it just shy of 2 years ago, I got a refund, good thing is, a new one cost me €30 less than when I bought it 2 years ago. :)

That has changed from what I understand to be within 1 year of purchase.

"Apple changed its AppleCare+ policies in the United States and Canada"

This thread is talking about UK and Germany

Applecare+ covers against accidental damage, a warranty does not cover that

So here in the UK, with AppleCare+, if I go down the monthly payment option, can I get AppleCare warranty for longer than the 2-year period, as I'm the type of person that generally keeps the same phone for a few years (as I generally buy the SE version of phones due to their compact size, however if Apple do refresh the 5.4" version of the iPhone every year or two, then I'll be upgrading every year or two).

OMG! OMG!

Dream

Come

TRUE!!!!

It's like they're recreating heaven right here on earth!

When I heard the news, well, let's just say the Lonely Planet guys aren't the only ones who had a little accident in the trousers, if you know what I mean.

This is the best news to come out of anywhere! Ever! VR Day? Yawn. VJ Day? Pish-tosh!

This, this is what the world has been waiting to hear.

Apple has finally done it, but it may not be a good thing because I just don't see how they will ever top this.

Just .... AWESOME!

I feel bad for the Apple Retails Employees.

This would be another target for them to chase as Apple grows its Services Revenue.

Given the current climate perhaps Apple will roll it out internationally to more countries with iPhone 12?

I think so.
It is getting difficult to make a ton of money by selling an old iPhone on eBay. There are too many refurbished phones, and people prefer them instead of buying something from an unknown guy.
It is still better to sell the old one and buy the new iPhone instead of trade in, and if the value is too low I'd rather give my old iPhone for free to a friend or relative, but if they want to boost sales and convince people to upgrade every year the IUP is a great option, I don't know why they're not expanding it to more countries

So I have coverage on my Apple Watch series 4 until March 2022 with Apple care. When I reach March 2022 will I have an option on Apple’s website to switch to a monthly Apple care+ plan?

Yes.
I did just that after my Applecare+ ran out on my S4 watch

£4 a month will be worth it for my watch.. Phone not so much I feel
I feel like the phone will be worth more, I can extend applecare+ on my watch in the US but has no scratches/dents and it is the aluminum variant. But my iPhone has discoloration on space gray coating, scratches on the display. But then again it is also $4 in the US too, so might do it once I reach 59 days after the warranty expires.

I may get phone as well but I've had far more issues with the odd scratch on my watch than my phone

I see. My thinking is that I will most likely upgrade next year since it will be 3 years on my S4. I think the claims for the watch are really high ($70) while the Ipad Pro is only ($50). If I do damage my watch, it feels like it is better to purchase a new one than pay $100 (applecare+ and claim).

Yes.

that’s great to hear. So do I need to wait until my Apple Care+ has expired before I can switch to monthly option? Or do I have to request it within the last 30 days of my Apple Care+ expiring?
