This phone becomes more of a joke by the day.

$1500 for the privilege of having the worst designed iPhone that still lacks features from phones that are 1/3 of the price? Please. Time to stop drinking the kool aid.
Just because many people are ordering the new phone, that doesn't necessarily mean that they are blindly drinking any Kool-Aid. It simply means that they don't share your point of view.

* The people of Jonestown were forced to drink Flavor-Aid not Kool-Aid. I see a lot of people use the Kool-Aid line and just wanted to note where that reference is coming from, and the correct drink used in the incident.

Perusing your posts. Someone pee in your cereal?

Not quite enough to make me so petty that I need to crawl through someone's posts. But thanks for checking, bae. <3

Yeah, true. I forget how rare common sense is these days. ;)

Just like you, I was hoping for $999 128GB base storage and AppleCare+ at $129. But what we got instead is:

$1149 iPhone X 256GB
$ 199 AppleCare+
$ 110 Tax
$1460 Total

Its kinda frustrating to see people talk of this $999 phone when the reality is that most people will be spending a lot more. 64GB just doesn't make sense for a "Pro" user or a "Flagship" device. And raising the price of AppleCare+ by $70 is excessive.

That said... I always get AC+. But this year then its kinda crazy that my carriers monthly protection plan may actually be cheaper than AppleCare so I may go for that instead. (That is, if I end up upgrading at all)
Don't forget the extra money if you want fast charging.

$1400.00 is a lot date money I could use for a lady. :eek:

The way I see it, you only live once in this physical world. I can still date and have a nice phone. :)

I think that's what bugs me the most. What about the X is worth $1400+? At $1400, you're into iMac or MacBook Pro territory. Or alternatively, that buys a gaming ready beast of a windows machine. Phone wise, it buys two of last year's iPhone 7 with cash left over for a nice date.

At what point does the bubble burst, and consumers put their foot down about being taken advantage of under the guise of having the "latest and greatest" Apple offering that just isn't really that great?

I guess we'll find out eventually. There has to be a wall out there somewhere. I wonder if increasing costs will eventually change how the carriers handle yearly trade-ins of phones to help finance the new ones (AT&T Next, etc.).

We are all bubble boys and girls. Some of us have larger bubbles than others.

As for me, I have a $267 AG and someone already lined up to buy my iPhone 7 plus, should I wish to go that route. If so, I am going to be looking at about the same out of pocket for the iPhone X, as I paid for the iPhone 7 plus (128 GB). And even if I save my AG and don't sell my iPhone 7 Plus, I don't see the iPhone X as a waste. If I get the phone and don't like it, back it goes. I will stick with the iPhone 7 plus til next year.

A lot of people would say I am dumb for spending over $3k on a new iMac recently, when I just bought a 2016 tbMBP last November.

Bottom line is it is all relative. There are probably things you like to spend money on, that others (including me) might look at and say, that is crazy dollars.

Don't sweat what you don't have control over. If you don't like Apple's new offering, don't buy it. At the same time, don't allow your disappointment to be the driving force of your posting, whereby you do all you can to dissuade others from getting what you don't like or think is too much.

I wonder if Squaretrade's price will go up as well. If not, I may go with them.

A bit off topic but I wonder how this will affect prices for carrier insurance. Like with T-Mobile, any new iPhone comes with Applecare. It's $12 right now per month, I wonder if it'll increase again. When I started years ago with JUMP! I believe it was $8 or maybe $10?

Mostly just the alcohol and hentai body pillows.

Nope, self insure all my devices. Never needed it yet and have probably saved a couple thousand $$$ or so over the years.

Yes. I have done this. But only if you paid for apple care full price upfront.

I just had another look at the terms and conditions and it says: " If you cancel more than 30 days after your receipt of this Plan, you will receive a pro-rata refund of the Plan’s original purchase price, less (i) a cancellation fee of $50 (Australia Dollars) or 10 percent of the pro-rata amount, whichever is less and (ii) the value of any service provided to you under the Plan."

Regarding (ii), how do they determine the value of the service provided?

Say I made a single claim of screen repair in the first year and paid for the $49 or however much it costs under AC+, is the value of service provided equal the actual cost without AC+ (ie. $250+ or something)? That means no refund?
