I just want to point something out:

October 10th is Thanksgiving here in Canada, which doesn't seem like an ideal day to release a new product.
I just want to point something out:

Apple Inc. is an American company, they don't really care too much about Canadian holidays.

Monday October 10th is a regular work day in Cupertino, California and shares of AAPL will be trading on the Nasdaq exchange all day.

If Apple Inc. had to worry about holidays in all of the markets where they sell products, there wouldn't be any days left for them to make announcements.

Also don't forget that the 10th of October is Health-Sports day in Japan so I'm not sure :D

October 14 is looking more and more like the official iPhone 5 launch day! Almost exactly a month away!

I think we are going to be getting the Iphone 4 design with better internal hardware. Not what I was hoping for.

I'm betting they thought about it for a tenth of a second or so and thought, who cares :)

It's also Columbus Day in the U.S.

Android has some really cool looking flash/bing/coolstuff and some other tweaks. I just dislike how often I have to help my son and wife go through the process of "actually" deleting apps off the phone that they don't use. often they don't care because it's not on the homescreen, but when they click that apps folder they hate to see them there, and it's just a big circle when you tap, drag the icon to the trash and nope, it's not deleted :).

My wife's next phone is the iPhone 4+, easy to work with, and easier to play with.

My son tells me that Android is a bit different and that a lot of iPhone users have trouble getting used to the Android interface. Since I started using the device since 2007 and I am currently using a 3GS 32GB, I can tell you that that iPhone had it's fair share of problems too. What I do like about the Android high end phones is the size of the display. While too big wouldn't be good the HTC I saw was great and it fit into my shirt pocket.

I cant wait!!! I hope it has copy & past!!!....oh wait... that's been done already? I take back all those things I said, Apple is great!:D

You carry your phone around in your shirt pocket? You're right, please go represent Android fan boys instead.

All this hoopla on IOS betas and anticipated releases dates is becoming nauseating. Apple makes a small variety of handsets compared to other vendors and it has taken them so long to get this one out that both the OS and the new hardware better be worth all this wait. I have been in iPhone user since day one, but my son was home the other day, an ATT employee with his Android handset and let me tell you, it looked damned good.

Letting their product slip beyond their normal release cycles is a faux pas in my opinion. I am giving them until the end of October. If it isn't out by then, my next handset will be an Android based product.

At least they were very clear about managing expectations going into WWDC this summer. They're launching a new OS, a new phone, and a new cloud service all (presumably) simultaneously. Not to mention that they've got a new major product in their product release rhythm (iPad, March).

I think they could be forgiven for pushing back the launch by 3 months. Can you imagine the potential compromises in quality if they launched in the iPad 2 in March, then went ahead with iOS 5, iPhone 5, and iCloud in July?

After this one year of extra waiting, things should go back to their normal cycles. And then, iPad and iPhone will be near-perfectly offset by 6 months, and hopefully keeping the pace of product releases on a good rhythm! (BTW, USB 3 compatible Intel processors coming out at the end of 2011...) That, and WWDC can focus on platform development rather than new product hype.

You'll be back. Really. In June... I got the new phone itch... and Apple hadn't announced iPhone 5 yet, I made the same mistake. I sold my iPhone 4 and imported the Galaxy S II from the UK. Big mistake. I only lasted about 3 weeks before I sold the GS II and got myself another iPhone 4 (white one this time :p ).

As much as I agree, it's probably a global launch, so it's going to land on some holiday somewhere.

agreed... what's interesting is how awesome these great new features make everyday life easier, how did i ever get by with just iOS4?
Can you explain these awesome new features you can't live without, because I've had the beta and I'm just not seeing it.

No one cares about canada. Get some appys, drink a caesar, and continue being mediocre. Also don't forget to come to Seattle and tip your server 10%.

We noticed that with most American companies, not just Apple. Released in the Fall - Argh, not everywhere has the same seasons as you, and nor do they even start on the same dates!!!! Forget about Fiscal, or financial, years as while ours is July to June, but it varies from company to company in the US...

Thats why we love dates - if something is due out mid october, say mid october, not 4th quarter (or is that first quarter of the fiscal year?)...

Dont ya love differences in countries, and lets not start the day/month or month/day arguement yet :)

Got an itch after one year?

Sold iPhone 4 and bought overseas phone then back to iPhone?:rolleyes:

as I compared all the ios that came out (excluding ios5), I thought ios 3, the last version of it, was the best.

That'll teach Apple a lesson they'll never forget. I'm often amazed at how childish some of the posters on this forum sound.

I beg to differ. Canada is America's largest and most reliable trade partner. Unlike some other countries, we don't run a massive trade deficit - we buy as much from the US as it sells to Canadians. Canada is the largest and most reliable supplier of OIL, electricity, natural gas, uranium, and lumber to the US. Additionally, Canada is a long time friend and ally to the US. :)
