Yes, it makes tons of sense. You got scammed, so now Apple will screw you again out of Apple Care. After just talking to an Apple Rep about Apple Care, I was told the exact opposite. I was clarifying the Higher Edu service and what not and then asked her about eBay. She said that if I register a void Apple Care account, Apple might help me, but if not I would just have to buy another one.

If the Applecare code you purchase successfully registers on Apple's system then it is a legitimate code. So really, this is a moot issue. If you buy a bogus code, since you are required to register it within the one year limited warranty, you would presumably have enough time left to buy a legitimate copy.

If, however, you think Apple should provide you with a legitimate copy just because you BELIEVED that the copy you bought on eBay was real, forget it. You take your chances with that. A lot of people have had good experiences there but I prefer to pay a little more for what I know to be a perfectly genuine copy (yes, with the box) from L.A. Computer.

whenever i do make the purchase on ebay i will make sure the seller has been on ebay for a good few years and has good feedback for the same applecare

Apple says that it is recommended that you buy applcare in your own country as terms and conditions can be different

So when i buy the code on ebay during the setup will it ask me what country i bought the code from ?

Help

IM from the UK and will be buying a US macbook , Im not going to buy applecare from US or UK as it is expensive i will resort to ebay !

Should i buy a european applecare or US applecare (or is there no such thing as a US or UK applecare but a worldwide applecare) , just cause on ebay i dont see them being titled for there own country i just see applecare being targeted for the type of hardware you own ie applecare macbook

:confused::confused::confused:

I wasn't commenting on what Apple's fine print says I was just stating the fact that AppleCare is AppleCare no matter where you purchase it. The only thing that changes is the price.

No.

Yes, that's what I was saying it sounded like from your first post that if you bought a illegitimate copy, you had your chance now you are screwed. Clearly Apple should not refund customers who try to beat the system.
