And there it is, launch day!

I want to buy the new iPad asap as well, but Apple needs to plan for a proper store launch, etc. to garner media attention and show those epic lines of rabid fans waiting to buy. That takes time, right?

So, I think they will "take the hit" on current iPad sales for a couple weeks to insure a proper launch of iPad 2 and all the promotional benefits that will go with it.

i think it'll be available right away, or ready for order on friday. i kinda hope for the latter, since i don't work fridays and i won't have to worry about trying to order this thing while i'm working on wednesday.

I am with you and hope it does deliver now rather than later but, my 3G is keeping me happy until then. A very good friend does not know it but they will be getting my iPad1 3G as a gift.😀

What makes you think that this won't happen anyways?

I'm not saying it won't.

Its just that if it was announced and released in a few days, then the hit in sales is subsidised entirely by the surge of purchases of iPad 2. But if its a longer wait, it's a hole in apple's line-up.
