For day 7 it's the funny action platformer game Rayman Jungle Run. It's already free in most countries:

Highly recommended!

Apple has officially started giving away free downloads on its "12 Days of Gifts" app for iOS devices, starting with an exclusive EP from Justin Timberlake made up of four live performances from the 2013 iTunes Festival. Before the official start of the giveaway, the app delivered a bonus song and video from New Zealand singer Lorde.

Apple's "12 Days of Gifts" giveaways will run daily from December 26 through January 6 and will offer users samples of a variety of content, including songs, apps, books, movies from across Apple's digital stores.

12 Days of Gifts is a universal app available for free in the App Store. [Direct Link]

Thanks, Luc!

I wish you didnt have to lose the gift after 24 hours... what is the point of a "gift"

It's not just a 'gift', it's a lure. To get you to visit once a day, and get into that habit after the 12 days is over.

The items stay in your account.

You don't need to visit iTunes once a day. The app sends out a reminder that the gift is ready to be downloaded. If you want it, you download it. If not, close the app and move on.
Unless you were not one of the 11tybillion who updated to iOS 7 .. then you can't use the application.

I personally am a little disappointed at the items that are being "gifted" this year. When this offered in the US I was always envious of the cool "gifts" Apple was giving away. Now that the US is included this time around the quality seems to be lacking.

And no gift receipts either!

Not exactly got the best reviews, people seem to be complaining even the paid for version is full of adverts and doesn't run properly on the iPhone 5S. I wonder who chose this one, it's not the best advert.

Didn't see any adverts, played it for 30 min or so. According to MR's sister site touchArcade (forum):

The game doesn't require iap to have all levels. They can all be unlocked by playing the game. This is a full game.

IAP = "In-App Purchases" for real money.

An update last year added a couple new worlds to the game, as well as Rayman's sidekick, Globox. You need to spend an additional $0.99 to unlock Globox (along with two more outfits for Rayman), but the worlds are unlockable by playing the game.

tA editor's review (with video). 4,5/5 stars.

As said before: That reaction game Rayman Jungle Run with genious tap-anywhere controls is highly recommended. Pure fun! Nice gift (normally US$2.99), thanks, Apple!

Day 8: NZ
eBook, 'Your Best Body' by Michelle Bridges (Diet and Fitness, 192 pages, 84Mb) ibook

This seems to be an Australian book (ie: NZ's neighbor), so wouldn't be surprised if other countries get something different, as done on other days.

I finally watched that episode of Africa this morning. "Wow" is the only word I have for it. I really enjoyed seeing the 10 minutes of behind the scenes of it too. Fascinating how the advances of technology have aided in the filming of wildlife.

Oh yeah, and it's the documentary where this gif comes from:

Thanks Apple. :D

"Pictures of Lily" is in the US store, so we might be getting that too. It sounds like a great read.

Do you have multiple country accounts? I wish we got a documentary. That wasn't the same Africa: Kalahari that they had on Discovery Channel was it? Think it had giraffes fighting?
